As we all know, this season the hair trends are all about color. But, it doesn’t mean that you have to try out an entirely new hue. We were introduced to the ombre hair color, with different approaches and tweaks to the look including the rainbow ombre (also known as ‘hair color dunking’), last spring’s color streaming and most recently the combre, copper ombre! But, as summer approaches, our tresses are about to experience a new hair revolution with Singles and Illuminata!

Swirl in color with “singles.” Singles are delicate strands of hair (about as wide as a fettuccine noodle) that are placed into foils, haphazardly into the hair, to add sparkle throughout. The hot shade for singles is a cinnamon brown that will light up all shades of brunettes — try Bigen Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Light Cognac ($4.99) to get the look.

Ombre is so last season! The new look is Illuminata, which has a similar effect to a candlelight glow. Illuminata creates a two-tone color effect that adds a flicker of dimension and shine from within your hair. The secret to this technique is keeping the color away from the part and coloring the hair a contrasting color, typically a lighter shade like a cocoa or butterscotch — try Bigen Permanent Powder Hair Color in Chocolate ($4.99) or Bigen Semi-Permanent Hair Color in Golden Blonde ($4.99). Taking two-inch wide sections of hair, sweep the color onto the strand and repeat this all the way around, in a horseshoe pattern. Think temple to temple, underneath where you part your hair and the placement should not be bold or on purpose. When the hair moves, or is placed in a ponytail, you’ll see delicate bursts of color that create shine and contrast. You can find more hair color choices at www.bigenusastore.com.

This summer, go for the glow — not only on your body, but in your hair, too!

Will any of you ladies out there be trying this latest hair color trend this summer?
