We know that all skin is not created equal. And although most brands cover the basics in regards to skin type: oily, dry, sensitive, etc., most don’t target their products according to your skin’s age. Behold the first skincare line meant for Millennials (lads and ladies from the ages of 25-34): IBUKI from Shiseido.

Shisiedo conducted research and concluded that the environment can weaken the skin due in part to late nights, unbalanced nutrition and stress — combined with external factors like UV rays and pollution that causes skin’s surface to shrink, disrupting the overall alignment and leading to a negative cycle that prevents healthy skin from emerging.

IBUKI translates to “inner skin” and 96% of women surveyed felt that their skin was in its best condition ever while using the Ibuki line! It combats recurring skin issues such as visible pores, blemishes, dryness and uneven skintone.

Shape Memorizing Cell Technology ensures skin cell’s memorize their optimal size and alignment for resistance to internal and external factors. A powerful combination of botanical extracts work to prevent cell shrinkage with the PhytoResist Complex, which eliminates excess cells and promotes healthy skin:

Trehalose and White Nettle – Inhibit cell shrinkage and replenish surface cells with moisture

TMG (Trimethylgycine) — Enhances resistance to harsh elements by improving skin’s barrier function

Yuzu Seed Extract — Promotes the products of cells in their optimal shape and condition

IBUKI Gentle Cleanser ($30.00) — It lathers quickly into a rich foam to remove impurities without stripping the skin. Skin is left feeling refreshed and silky-smooth to the touch. I liked both of these cleanser, and they never irritated my skin. Although they are touted having non-stripping formulas, I definitely needed a moisturizer. I sometimes mixed the two together in the morning, just when I felt like a needed an extra exfoliating boost without overdoing it.

IBUKI Refining Moisturizer ($45.00; image shown above) — This multi-action formula intensively corrects the appearance of unevenness such as visible pores, breakouts and skin roughness. It renews skin’s surface revealing an incredibly smooth uniform texture while keeping skin hydrated.

It feels like a lightweight serum or emulsion, but sinks into skin immediately. I instantly saw a brightening effect and loved how it moisturized without leaving my skin wanting more. It is formulated with a PhytoResist Complex to boost skin’s strength to resist problems. My skin felt dewy and moist, yet the formula is gentle and effective for all skin types including sensitive.

The IBUKI line also includes a Softening Concentrate, Refining Moisturizer Enriched Cream, Protective Moisturizer SPF 18 and Eye Correcting Cream.

It’s the speedy marriage of liquid lip color and a gloss. Rich pigment adheres to lips with a topcoat-like shine. It even improves dry lips with continued use — Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE actively pushes moisture into lips for hours. It doesn’t feel heavy or sticky at all, and one swipe packed a lot of pigment.

These eyeshadows feel like pure silk on the lids. Micromatic Color Pigment and Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE improve eye dryness and provide a smooth finish. I tried BR214 Into the Woods that left a shimmery copper color finish. The colors are on the sheer side, but leave a beautiful wash on the lids.

Red Illuminating Pearl creates brilliant definition with a smooth finish using a High Moisture Complex and hyaluronic acid for lasting moisture and color. It lasted very well and my lips never felt dry. I only applied twice during the day, as the color fades into more of a stain than leaving awkward patches of color on your lips.
