Miss De Gaspe provides a new concept to in-home facial masks. The masks are totally dry, with all of the beneficial ingredients printed directly onto the textured surface that touches your skin. Dry means there is no water to act as a filler, and the mask is said to infuse your skin with a 96% concentration of natural ingredients and 83% concentration of active ingredients. By contrast, wet masks are generally 85-90% water and glycerin and only contain 5-10% active ingredients.

These masks promise quick results – 15 minutes is all you need. and a “biomimetic micro-vectorized delivery system transports active ingredients deeper, feeding and nourishing skin from the inside out.” They are also very user-friendly, with no gloppy, goopy mess so they make multi-tasking a breeze. You can use one while at your desk, drinking coffee (or wine!) or getting your nails done. They can also be used 3-5 times each, depending on the condition of your skin.

The Defy Drench Dry Mask ($32) features an 83% concentration of active ingredients with no fillers. This mask promises to smooth lines and wrinkles with red maple extract while salicornia and hyaluronic acid claim to hydrate and plump dehydrated skin for a smooth, supple, and dewy complexion. The mask is paraben-free and dermatologically tested.

I enjoyed the novelty of this product and did find it handy to be able to do other things while the mask was on my face. My skin felt soft and smooth but I did not notice any positive effect on fine lines and wrinkles. This could be something that would be more noticeable with continued use.

The Brighten Beam Dry Mask ($32) also features a concentration of 83% active ingredients with no fillers and is said to brighten with vitamin C rich kakadu plum extract. Balloon vine extract and essential fatty acids promise to balance an uneven skin tone, calm the complexion, and reduce redness. The Brighten Beam is 96% natural as well as paraben-free and dermatologically tested.

The effect of the mask was pleasant and my skin felt softer afterwards. I don’t suffer from an uneven skin tone or any redness, so I could not judge the accuracy of the claim.

All in all, these are fun products to try if you are in the mood for something new! They’re also great for travel as they’re super easy to pack and go.
