Schmidt’s started in Portland, Oregon in 2010 when Jaime Schmidt developed a plant-based natural deodorant that helped keep her family fresh and fragrant. Fast forward to 2015, Schmidt’s viral success caught the attention of entrepreneur Michael Cammarata, and together, the unlikely power duo built Schmidt’s into a natural products empire. They believe it’s possible to make small yet effective changes to your lifestyle that benefit overall health. Schmidt’s is committed to raising the bar and setting new standards for natural products. They aim to make natural products fun, accessible, and rewarding for everyone.

When developing their formulas, they look to botanicals and mineral-derived ingredients. Schmidt’s is committed to staying certified vegan and cruelty-free. Schmidt’s products are also always free of aluminum, propylene glycol, SLS, PEG, parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrances, artificial flavors, artificial colorants, and artificial sweeteners.

I was sent two body washes to sample. The first of these was Lily of the Valley Body Wash ($9.99). This new, fresh, green floral aroma is meant to symbolize the happiness and hope Dr. Goodall has carried throughout her life’s work. Formulated with argan oil, neem extract, and seaweeds like blue spirulina and nori, this plant-based moisture-rich body wash formula promises to gently cleanse to help refresh skin. And, five percent of the purchase price (excluding shipping) is donated to The Jane Goodall Institute.

The other scent I was sent was the newly introduced Coconut and Pineapple Body Wash ($9.99). Refreshing and vibrant, this scent is said to be both adventurous and sweet. Ingredients include argan oil, shea butter, red algae, blue-green algae, nori, and neem.

I liked both of these products very much – they cleaned without stripping or drying, and they both left my skin soft and smooth. I did find the scents pleasant, though they had nothing to do with their names. Lily of the Valley was floral and pretty much didn’t smell at all like the flower, which is very distinct. The Coconut and Pineapple was vaguely tropical but had nothing to do with either of those particular fruits. Still, these are nice products with a lot going for them and a very user-friendly price ticket!
