I’m going to cut to the chase: I need to be hairless for summer! Last year I reviewed my first-ever epilator with great results, but now, I have another epilator to share with you and it’s the Braun SkinSpa Epilation & Sonic Exfoliation System Silk·épil 7 ($120.00 – $130.00).
This epilator comes with a New Micro-Vibrations Brush with more than 3000 micro-vibrations per minute to exfoliate your skin 4x more effectively than manual treatment. It is also important to do so twice a week to prevent ingrown hairs, remove dead skin and stimulate the regeneration of the skin’s surface. Braun notes to exfoliate before epilating.
Better than waxing, epilation removes hair at the root and can extract much shorter hairs. The Close-Grip Technology of the Silk·épil 7 contains forty tweezers and can remove hair as short as a grain of sand! I’m in!
The pivoting head and Smartlight make this epilator one of my favorites. The light is pretty powerful and allows for you to see every hair follicle for an extra-thorough hair removal. The system comes with a charger, instruction booklet, pouch, an epilator and exfoliating cartridge, a cleaning brush and clear plastic case for the exfoliating brush.
The Exfoliating Brush works really well, and you can use it in the shower. I put a little soap on it and made sure to exfoliate my legs, elbows, knees and chest. It caused no redness or irritation, and I am so happy to be able to exfoliate my entire body now!
The next day, I used the Epilator Head to tackle my inner thighs and calves. Now, with epilation, you do experience some pinching, but you will get used to it. With this device, you can either epilate on dry or wet skin. I tried both.
Beautiful design of this two-speed epilator
On one leg I used it dry (make sure your skin is free of any creams or oils). Pulling my skin taught, I glided the epilator as I would shaving. I loved the pivoting head, which allowed me to get to hard-to-reach places like my ankles. I experienced no nicks, but some redness at the end, so it is ideal to do this the night before because by morning it is all gone — just smooth, hairless skin is left!
I then wet my other leg and applied some shower gel as instructed. It seemed to work a little quicker, but the hairs that were extracted got stuck on my leg, so I frequently ran water over it for removal. It was also much easier to clean afterwards, since the wet hairs stuck together, making it a quick clean-up. After epilation, it is important to moisturize the skin.
Just look at my before/after pictures! I love epilators — you don’t have to worry about chemicals, nicks, irritation or breakouts. And for someone who suffers from ingrown hairs, this is a great epilator! I really love it and will be using it all summer long!
