Ingredient List Review, Photos: Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55 -- Stay Dry And Protected

As summer approaches we feel the urge to use sunscreen more and more than any other time of the year. However, we should use it throughout the year to protect our skin from early signs of aging and just stay sun-safe. I am a new-product-loving person and try out new things all the time, but, every time is not always a happy case. Sometimes I end up with rashes, acne and red patches on my skin. I am also a bit skeptical about using sunscreen since I sweat most of them right off. I have tried loads of them. Oh yes! With a sticky and oily face, too. And a greasy face generally attracts dirt and your face appears darker. Some tinted sunscreens end up leaving a cakey finish on my skin. Who likes that? Most of the sunscreens have these problem.

But, this time, right before summer officially starts, I got my hands on the latest Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55 ($8.49) — I was delighted! I tried the product on sunny California days and the effect is just WOW! No sweat at all. The lightweight formulation with 3% avobenzone (a proven active ingredient for sun protection) is perfect for summer wear, which quickly absorbs into the skin on application, leaving behind a patch-free, clean look. Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 55 is revolutionary; dermatologist-tested with the latest breakthrough in UV protection. The product enables superior broad-spectrum and photostable UV protection both against skin-aging UVA and burning UVB rays. The product is empowerd with Dry-Touch Helioplex technology for an ultralight, non-shiny finish.

From a formulator’s point-of-view it contains a combination of active ingredients like avobenzone (3.0%), homosalate 10.0%, octisalate 5.0%, octocrylene (2.8%), oxybenzone 6.0% and other inactive/supporting ingredients like (water),butyl octyl salicylate,styrene/acrylates copolymer, silica, diethyl hexyl 2,6-napthalate, VP/hexadecene copolymer, dimethicone, ethylhexylglycerin, caprylyl methicone, phenoxyethanol, ethylhexyl stearate, trideceth-6,behenyl alcohol, trimethyl silioxysilicate, sodium polyacrylate, xanthan gum, disodium EDTA, methylparaben, iodopropynyl butylcarbamate, propylparaben, ethylparaben, fragrance.

It is said to leave the skin soft and smooth and is water-proof, sweat-proof and free from oil and PABA. The product features a light, fresh scent. The product is non-comedogenic, not clogging pores like many other sunscreens. I also feel the product contents and claims are in accordance with the latest FDA 2012 Sunscreen Monograph.

In regards to application direction, I must add that you need to apply liberally to your face and body fifteen minutes before sun exposure. For added protection, reapply after swimming, excessive perspiration, towel drying or extended sun exposure. The product worked great for me and I hope it will suit you, too. Serious sun protection never felt this light on your skin!
