It’s pretty hard to avoid the “Frozen effect” these days. The Disney behemoth has pretty much inserted its way into every aspect of our lives—even happy hour! Yes, the “Elsa cocktail” exists. Nevertheless, I admit that I’m likely the last person on earth that hasn’t let Elsa, Anna, or Olaf touch her heart.

It’s not like I’m some pop culture elitist. It’s just that I haven’t found the time to sit down and watch the flick. In all fairness, I don’t really have to. Considering the movie’s enormous influence, I already know the whole plot and every single song.

The power of Frozen has even extended itself into the beauty world, with the icy white color trend proving itself to be, well, white hot. Even British beauty, Suki Waterhouse, recently tried out the trend.

With brassy strands and overgrown dark roots, I was long overdue for a touch-up, so I figured I might as well start the new year with the newest color trend.

But Pierre Michel expert colorist Nikki Gilmartin (above) knows blond. She gets blond. She does me.

I started off my bleaching session a little bit before the holiday to get rid of any outgrowth and brassy color.

I then made another appointment for a second intensive bleaching session to eliminate pre-existing yellow tones and get rid of any new brassiness.

Placed under a dryer with a heck of a lot of bleach on my head for two hours, I got the glorious silver-white winter strands I was striving for.
