Charlotte Ronson Beauty Spring 2010 Fashion Week

Charlotte Ronson loves her tulle. The backstage beauty look was inspired by the ballerina who meets New York City style, and there were ballerina-style chignons on the hair, sparkly pinks and sheers on the face and a lovely Nail Art technique done on the nails.

The hair was done by Alan Ruiz for Avon’s Advanced Techniques line. Below is the picture of Charlotte’s sister, who will walk the runway:

The hairstyle was a basic ponytail twisted into a smart chignon on top. The front of the hair is not slicked back clean, as I have seen in several shows earlier this morning like Yigal Azrouel, but rather imperfect with a few strands framing the face. Alan Ruiz for Avon says, “It’s an imperfect ponytail and that makes it more modern; everything was done using Avon’s Advanced Techniques line.”

If you have not tried this line, you absolutely should! The serum is wonderful. Ruiz used the Volumizing Hairspray on dry hair, taking hairs in sections. Then he used a brush to comb through the product into the hair, which gives hair the support it requires so that chignons and ponytails don’t unravel. Then the hair was twisted and then put into a chignon on top of the head and secured with bobby pins. The Advanced Techniques styling spray was used to secure everything together.

“The hair is not overly shiny,” says Ruiz. “It’s also not too matte: it’s all about natural, healthy looking hair for the show and season.”

We have seen a lot of ponytails for Spring 2010 (Yigal Azrouel, Cynthia Rowley). It’s all about showing off the dresses, the skin and the clean sheer face.

The makeup was done by Charlotte Willer for Maybelline:

For the face, Charlotte Willer use plenty of pink blush (mostly from the Maybelline Mineral line). The lips were covered in Color Sensational lipgloss in No.15. This is a beautiful line and the glosses go on sparkly yet sheer and layer-able.

“The inspiration is all ballerina meets the Streets of New York City,” says Willer. “The lips are lipstick mixed with balm to create a more natural look; the face looks edgy by applying more blush.”

Willer says that Spring is about the natural looking girl (you’ll remember that Ruiz said the same thing about the hair). The foundation was a Mineral Sheers powder and Illuminator was applied all over the eyes (so there was no dark pronounced eyeshadow at Ronson). Willer used Lash Stiletto mascara on the upper eyelashes, but not the lower ones. “It looks more natural and less made up that way…otherwise it would look too “doll like”” says Willer.

As for the clothes, since they have lots of tulle in the line, it made sense to go with a ballerina-inspired look.

The nails were done by Milani:

Milani is coming out with a Nail Art line in February 2010 that allows you to create a “Minx-like” mani at home. The applicator is very thin, so you can layer lines, layers etc. on your nails, as you can see from the very poor shot above! There will also be a holographic nail lacquer collection that you can use in conjunction with the Nail Art lacquer so you can go wild (Minx style!) in the comfort of your home.
