Hair Color Trend Report 2016, 2017, 2018: Best Tips For Going Blonde - Shade, How-To

I have been every shade of red, brunette eggplant, and goth. But no one can do blonde like my stylist, Jin Infantino, who gives the most natural looking blonde you can possibly get. I have never in my life gotten more attention since she worked her magic! Blondes sure do have more fun!

This look isn’t for someone who is low maintenance; I go every six to eight weeks to keep my locks in tip top shape. I have naturally dark hair, but it is strong, so it can take a lot of coloring and I make sure I treat my hair with TLC. This means that I condition as much as possible and try not to use a lot of high temperature appliances.

I sat down with my stylist and grilled her on how she achieved my glamorous look and now you can ask your stylist to create the same look for you!

1) Who is best suited for blond hair?

“Anyone can wear blond, it depends on the texture of hair and if it’s damaged or not. Damaged hair will tend to break easily, so it’s important to watch how blond you’re going.” Conditioner is important! This will help maintain color and keep your hair looking gorgeous!”

2) How many salon visits are required to achieve the perfect shade of blond?

“It depends on what type of color you are getting. If it’s corrective color, (as it was in my personal case), it can take two or more salon visits to correct the red and get it perfect.”

3) As I mentioned, my hair is naturally dark and tends to go red. What is your signature technique of getting hair so shiny and light?

“First, I highlighted the whole head with foils using a soft blonde lighter. This product has essential oils to help hair stay moisturized during the lightning process. A single process is also done on the root to lighten the base so it matches the highlights.” After hair is lightened to desired level, I use a glaze to cancel any unwanted brassy or red tones. This process also adds shine to the hair.”

4) After all this work, what are the best shampoos and conditioners to maintain the color?

“I love products by Oribe like Bright Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner. Another go to is the Oi product line. They have a product called Davines which is great.” In the pictures you see of me, Jin used Oribe’s Balm D’or Styling Shield to protect from the heat and Royal Texture, to create a smooth and shiny texture. My look was finished with Oribe’s Superfine Hairspray.

As we are in full swing of the summer season, I asked her how to maintain your locks with salt water and chlorine. Jin said, “Before you dive in the pool or sea, rinse hair with fresh water and put in a leave in conditoner!”

So there you have it, the template to create the perfect blond! Thank you to Jin Infantino and Panico Salon in Oradell, NJ for keeping me gorgeous!
