Keeping up with the Kardashian’s star, Kourtney Kardashian, sat down for a one-on-one interview with host Frankie Grande of Amazon’s live stream fashion and beauty show Style Code Live to reveal her secrets for fierce skin and talk avocado shakes, Manuka Honey and ‘Cher hair.
On staying fierce:
It is like a 7:30 wake up call. Daily. But that’s like to, ya know, be a mom in the morning, have my mornings and then, I always have to do the gym. Every morning. I’m kind’ve like an all day and night person. Like, I don’t stop. If people are like, “What are you doing today?” I can literally send them the longest list. Every minute of my day is filled. I was talking on the phone to Khloe last night and I was like, “This is like a lot that I’m juggling.” It’s been a busy two weeks. We’ve had the Pablo Kanye concerts. And then it was Kendall’s 21st birthday, and then it was Halloween. There’s been like so many things going on that I’m like ‘how do people have work, mom, and have a social life?’ It’s exhausting. And I get fomo if I don’t go to something—I have to go to everything.
On her personal style:
I think knowing your body is the biggest thing because I feel like every trend isn’t for everyone and I am really petite, so I feel like knowing like, cinching my waist, you know? There are just certain, like I don’t look good in anything long because I’m so small and so it’s like I need to wear shorter things, just looks better. Always a big heel. I love to just keep it simple.
On how she gets her makeup off:
I use a face oil every night to get my makeup off. I just started doing that actually. And it’s life changing. And then I used the Manuka Doctor facewash after. My new thing too is I’ll take hot wash cloth, put it on my face for like, 30 seconds and then wipe everything off. Then wash and then do a toner because otherwise there’s no other way to get it all off. Last and final step, which at nighttime, I’ll do a serum.
On how she keeps her hair shiny and healthy:
To me, beauty comes from within as well, so like, I have this avocado shake every morning. It has Manuka honey in it, which I feel like the honey and the avocado is so great for your hair. I do almond milk in mine or sometimes coconut milk. We just discovered that you could do the shake as a mask too and put it on your hair. Mix the avocado and honey. Or even coconut oil—is a good one to put in your hair.
On what attracted her to Manuka Honey:
On our show, when we’re filming, all the crew would eat Manuka honey by the spoonful’s and I was like ‘Why are you guys always eating this honey?’ And they would always say ‘Because so and so is sick and we don’t want to get sick,’ so they would just eat the honey all the time. After I had Mason, I stopped taking medicine, I just changed my lifestyle and felt like I wanted the most natural things that I could find and so I became really into Manuka honey. And it’s great too because for kids—it’s honey. Of course they’re going to eat it. Whenever they’re getting sick I’ll give them spoonful’s of honey.
On being new ambassador of Manuka Doctor Skincare:
I posted on it, in my app I do this ‘Good For You’ glossary where I’ll list an ingredient and say the benefits and how I use it. So I had done one on Manuka Honey and they were looking for an ambassador for the Manuka Doctor Skincare line and so it just totally made sense. And I’m always looking for skincare products that are natural or have natural ingredients, but actually work, so I really loved the products. My absolute top favorite product is, there’s a brightening and replenishing oil. I use them both pretty equally and I use them every night, like under my eyes and on my eye lids. And then I’ll rub it on my hands and bring it down (décolleté area).
On Penelope’s love of honey and tea time:
My daughter loves my shake. She loves tea. We kind’ve do tea time a lot and so we’ll put the Manuka honey in our tea.
On Penelope’s love of makeup:
I actually snapchatted a picture this morning of her vanity. She has a little vanity in her room that my mom got for her and North last year for Christmas. It’s like Hello Kitty decked out. She loves makeup. She loves to put like color in her hair. We found these natural powder colors, so they’re not bad for you. She’ll do those once a week, like a fun color.
On junk food cravings:
All the time! For Thanksgiving I’m going to F’ing the diet. Kylie’s making Thanksgiving dinner this year, so I’m like I can’t really ask her to make gluten free and dairy free and I don’t really want to.
On ‘Cher hair’:
I have straight hair, but it’s not this straight. We call this ‘Cher hair’ and I love the – I mean you need to use a flat iron to get it this straight. And then I use our Kardashian beauty hair oil it’s a black seed oil and it gives it the smoothness and the shine because I think it has to be like really smooth and you can’t really have flyaways and have this straight hair for it to look like silk, you know? Today is ‘Cher hair.’ It’s all real.
