Its was all about the eyes for Jaime Alexander at last night’s 73rd annual Golden Globes! The It Cosmetics Liner Love Waterproof Anti-Aging Crème Gel Eyeliner is an innovative formula designed to lay down eye-enhancing, saturated, rich color. Developed with leading plastic surgeons, it’s infused with lash-loving ingredients, such as peptides, collagen, and vitamin serums. These highly pigmented colors are clinically proven waterproof, even after 12 hours of wear.
For her skin, “A bit of moisture was added first on Jaimie’s lips with Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm.”
“Her skin was prepped and refined with Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing and Radiance Masque to quickly prime Jaimie’s skin in dry areas. I then began hydrating her skin with Kiehl’s Iris Extract Activating Essence Treatment, and then made her skin shine with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado under her eyes.”
Kate Hudson set the Golden Globes red carpet and Hollywood abuzz as she made a dramatic entrance with an unexpected hair transformation – a fabulous, textured chin-length bob created by ghd Brand Ambassador, David Babaii. Her eye-catching gown was by Michael Kors.
The look was fresh and fabulous, flawlessly combining sophisticated 70-80’s film inspiration with Hudson’s cool boho chic. “We were joking around and just decided to cut it right before Kate started her make-up!” explained Babaii, “It’s all very Kate Hudson!”
He used a GHD’s Platinum White Styler Flat Iron, taking random sections to shape and define volume and creating a wavy texture by curving the flat-ironed hair with his hands. “The platinum white styler is perfect for the control needed to get the precise texture we wanted.”
Award-winning actress and comedian Leslie Mann stuns on the red carpet at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards this evening in a gorgeous blush gown, and Nexxus New York Salon Care Celebrity Stylist Lona Vigi crafted Leslie’s classic, chic hairstyle. “We decided to keep the hairstyle sexy and effortless to accompany her beautifully embellished gown.”
Follow Lona’s tips to re-create Leslie’s effortless look:
- Prep towel-dried hair with Nexxus New York Salon Care Mousse Plus to add natural volume, tame flyways and weightlessly support the wavy style.
- Blow-dry the hair in large sections to create a smooth base.
- Once the hair is thoroughly dry, use a styling wand to create vertical waves in 1-inch sections throughout the head.
- Run fingers through hair to separate the curls and finish with a light spray of the Nexxus New York Salon Care Frizz Defy Finishing Mist to provide long-lasting hold and maintain the polished, frizz-free look.
Golden Globe nominee Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ beauty look was created by makeup artist Karen Kawahara using the TEMPTU Air.
To emphasize the drama of Emilia Clarke‘s Valentino Couture dress, celebrity stylist Alex Polillo gave Emilia chic, clean style. Polillo didn’t want to put all of her hair up, so he gave her chic, simple waves and pulled half of her hair back.
Here is his step-by-step breakdown:
- Starting with clean wet hair, he parted her hair off center and used John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray as a texturizer and to give hair a little oomph
- Next, he flipped her head upside down and dried hair using his fingers. At 80% dry, he finished by using a round brush and put two Velcro rollers at the crown.
- Polillo then lightly teased her hair at the crown and brushed the top smooth, leaving a little bump. Using Bobby pins, he secured both sides in the back to create a half up half down style, spraying the top with John Frieda Frizz Ease KERAFLEX Flexible Hold Hairspray
- Using a flat iron, he created a slight bend in the hair, making an S shape, lightly spritzing once more with the Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Sprayto tousle the waves
- He finished the entire style with a spritz of Frizz Ease KERAFLEX Flexible Hold Hairspray
NARS worked with celebrity makeup artist Romy Soleimani to create the makeup look for Maggie Gyllenhaal at the 2016 Golden Globes. “The inspiration was Bombay Deco meets Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface!”
Celebrity makeup artist Stephen Sollitto created a stunning red carpet look for Amy Adams, who presented at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards.
Sollitto prepped Adams’ skin to “ensure the skin looks its best” using Shiseido Ibuki Refining Misturizer Enriched ($45). Solllitto “let this sink in to the skin for a few moments before starting foundation,” which created a moisturized, smooth, red carpet glow.
At the 73rd annual Golden Globes, Emmy Rossum stunned in a striking femme-inspired makeup look created for her by makeup artist Jo Baker using products from Rimmel London. Jo went for a modern-Hollywood bombshell look with winged liquid eyeliner, fluttery lashes and a fierce red lip.
“Cat eye and a red lip combo have been around for decades so the way I made his feel modern and fresh is by allowing the two colors black and red to feel uncomplicated. No eyeshadow, no extra shimmer on the face just the bold liner and red lip – super sexy and ultra feminine.”
Jo started by smoothing over a tiny amount of Rimmel London Exaggerate Eyeshadow Primer all over the naked lid of each eye, allowing it to sit for a couple of minutes, which helps keep eyeliner clean and in place for extended wear. She wanted the only two colors for this look to be Emmy’s jet black liner and lashes, and the red lid so she traced a rough guideline on each eye using Rimmel London Exaggerate in Smoke n Shine gel liner. She used a fine brush smudging it deep into the lash line for a deep and dramatic base for the liquid liner. Once both eyes were symmetrical and balanced using the fine liner brush, Jo swooped up the edges on the outer eye line, winging them up and out to create lift and elongating Emmy’s lash line.
Jo’s tip: “I took the brush I had used before with only the remaining product on the brush. This dry sketch technique gives you full control to design your liner with ease, making it easy to correct or wipe liner into shape until your content with both eyes.”
The big winners of the night:
“Taraji’s dress was very simple and elegant—a classic old Hollywood silhouette,” said MIZANI Global Artistic Director Cesar Ramirez. “I thought about pairing the look with a retro hairdo or playing off the Grecian style, but instead I thought something playful, sexy and modern. A look that speaks to my effortless esthetic.”
Step 1: Cesar started by cleansing Taraji’s hair with MIZANI True Textures Moisture Replenish Shampoo and MIZANI True Textures Moisture Replenish Conditioner. They’re perfect for blow drying curly hair straight or leaving curly hair natural.
Step 2: On damp hair, MIZANI Thermastrength Heat Styling Serum was applied for anti-breakage and heat protection. Once blown straight and dry, Cesar created a deep side part.
Jennifer Lawrence wore hair pulled up in an elegant ‘do. She accentuated lips with Dior Addict Lipstick Hydra-Gel Core Mirror Shine in Zig Zag.
