Review, Before/After Photos: Hair Rules Volumizing Shampoo - Provides Long-Lasting Volume

BeautyStat’s ‘Curl Gurl’ is back, miss me? For this installment I was only reviewing a shampoo – Hair Rules Volumizing Cleanse Shampoo (for all hair types). You know the first thing this gal goes for in a shampoo is THE SCENT. Well, this shampoo smells very citrus-y (think grapefruit), contains NO sulfates, phthalates, parabens, and is NOT tested on animals.

Hair Rules’ new line promises to help fight frizz in the humid summer months. You can find Hair Rules products at Target and Hairrules.com, starting at $15.00 for an 8oz bottle. This product promises to take you from “flat to full” adding volume; delivering body AND shine — and that it did; thickening hair with wheat proteins, aloe leaf and jojoba extracts! Great for straight to wavy hair textures, fine, thin or flat hair. Also good for color, chemically-treated or keratin processed hair.

Now, we all know I have no business trying to add volume to my already crazy mane, BUT my curls DO go flat at times (especially at the roots since my hair is so long and heavy!). What I like about this product is that though I DON’T need volume, it states that curly & kinky textures can use some occasionally — as a treatment to remove product build-up (which I need!). So, as with any other hair product I test, I go “product-free” for 3 days, just to see how it works on my hair.

Before Using Shampoo

You see my hair BEFORE using this product. See how my curls are limp and the roots basically straight?

After Using Shampoo

My hair has this amazing shine and body. Here’s where this product delivers. Unlike other volumizing products that quit working after a few hours and your hair goes limp…my hair actually kept on growing & gaining volume.

8 Hours After Using Shampoo

Here’s my hair 8 hours later, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, considering the whole “texture movement”.

Here’s the entire new product line:

Lift Volumizing Shampoo:  moisturizing, sulfate-free shampoo plumps up the volume delivering body and shine; sealing split ends and taming the frizzies.

Blow It All Out: a reformulation of our blow-out products, consolidated into one product for all textures.  Versatile, lightweight mist contains a new macromolecule called Stylize W, which creates a 3-D crystal clear matrix on the hair surface, keeping hair smooth and frizz-free all day by blocking the negative effects of high humidity. Revitalizes fragile, chemically-treated, depleted hair leaving it glossy and vibrant.

Volumizing Hair Spray:  a unique, multi-textural, all-purpose hair spray with superfine dry-mist technology protects against humidity and is great for building volume in straight, wavy or curly styles without stickiness. Strong enough to build hair high and create big, beautiful, kinky curly styles.

Lift Volumizing Dry Shampoo: Instantly boost your volume and create texture in limp locks. Gentle starches absorb excess oil and product build-up to refresh your style in between washing, while Vitamin E and wheat proteins strengthen and protect the hair shaft.

So, are any of you going to unleash some of that volume with these products?

  2. Wow, another enjoyable & informative article! Home run… you are a hair guru!!!

  3. This is a product I would really like to try. My hair dries out so quickly after a shampoo. Your hair looks wonderful!

  4. Thank you very much dolls!!! Gotta share this hair I’ve been blessed with…more to come, so stay tuned! Xoxo Ev <3

  5. As with all shampoos the trick is to rinse very well. Use Shielo’s Volume Shampoo because it does lift for volume. Your hair should squeak. It does seem to dry out your hair but that is what removes oils that creates flatness. If you have dry hair to begin with, this might not be for you unless you use conditioner(which defeats the purpose of fullness). For me with fine oily hair it is a dream. It is also easy to style while blow-drying.
