I recently read a headline that said, “Jennifer Aniston Would Rather Be Bald Than Have The ‘Rachel’”.

This got me to thinking of all of the things Jennifer and I have in common: we’re both over 40-years-old; we’re both engaged without a wedding date; we both have nice hair and she is a co-owner and spokesperson for a hairline company called Living Proof… and I’m a hair writer for BeautyStat.com who got the chance to review it!
Although, I secretly wish she would shave her head so I could jump in and be their new spokesperson. But, I was happy to just be connected to her in some mere way.
Having been obsessed with all things Jennifer since her role on Friends, I have to admit the prospect excited me. I was given 6 unique products to try over a week’s time.
I had not been too familiar with Living Proof before researching and testing out the products. It is a company that was founded in 2005 based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its staff is comprised of beauty experts and biotech scientists who use technology from MIT.
They have actually invented molecules that are patented (they have 11 to date!) and proven to actually do what they promise: make hair beautiful.
There were 3 major things that impressed me about this product line: the packaging, the scent and the delivery of promised results. The product packaging is pure genius — simple in nature, the color, size and shape of the product made it feel ultra-expensive and gave off a cool, trendy vibe.
After: Using Restore Mask Treatment, No frizz Leave-In Conditioner, Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment, Full Root Lifting Hairspray & Amp2 Instant Texture Volumizer; styled CURLY
Product was easy to dispense and easy to store. The scent was one of my favorites: a light, fresh, citrusy smell. Everything I tried was true to its word and my hair turned out as promised.
I started out using Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment ($42.00; 8 oz). This product was awarded the 2011 Best Anti-Aging Breakthrough seal by The Dr. Oz Show. It also uses OFPMA, a molecule that controls moisture. It works at restoring hair’s protective layer by smoothing the cuticle and strengthening each individual strand without weighing it down.
Also, the treatment is color-safe. I used it 2X this week to really deep condition my hair. I was very happy with the result; it definitely helped make my hair look less dry.
Next, I used Living Proof No frizz Leave-In Conditioner ($24.00; 4 oz). This product was created to treat dry, damaged or chemically processed hair using the same OFPMA molecule. It works to nourish, add moisture, detangle, tame frizz and prevent flyaways; recommended strongly for colored and highly processed hair. I definitely saw a difference — I had less frizz and my hair was more manageable.
My favorite product of the bunch is their latest: Living Proof Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment ($26.00; 4 oz). This product is launching at Ulta in September 2013. The beauty of this product is that it will give you the most perfect hair without a trip to the salon.
It uses both OFPMA and PBAE, which helps create long-lasting fullness. The product smoothes, volumizes, conditions, strengthens and polishes. I really thought this cream made a big difference. My hair never looked better! I am sure that it was a combination of all the products, but I really feel this product is a breakthrough. Using one product to do a multitude of things? Amazing!
Flex Shaping Hairspray ($24.00; 7.5 oz) launched in August 2013. This product can be used on damp or dry hair and offers 3 solutions in one: it sets, styles and finishes any hairstyle. I was very happy with this hairspray, since I hate ones that leave your hair sticky, hard and unnatural looking. This spray has hold, but does not compromise the look or feel of your hair.
Full Root Lifting Hairspray ($26.00; 5.5 oz) actually creates lift and height at the roots that lasts most of the day. I used this product when I went out one night; it was also very light, but magically gave me extra height and lift with no stickiness.
These were two great hairsprays that renewed my faith in hairspray application, since I was starting to despise the way most of them make my hair look and feel.
Last, but certainly not least, was Amp² Instant Texture Volumizer ($24.00; 2 oz). This product also uses PBAE, helping hair maintain its incredible body. This product acts as a replacement for hot rollers or a curling iron to give you volume and texture just by using your hands!
After: Using all products except Full Root Lifting Hairspray; styled STRAIGHT
It lasts for a long time, leaving revivable hair for up to 48-hours. I have longer hair, so I was not convinced that it would work, but, I was definitely blown away by the results. It also was not sticky, but worked to really take my hair to a new level. In my naturally curly state, my hair looked salon-styled.
All in all, I was impressed with this line of products. I only tried 6 and there are many more offered by the Living Proof brand. There are products for different hair issues that all yield amazing results.
The reviews on the website are fantastic, and I doubt Jen will shave her head anytime soon. Being a co-owner of this product line will help her maintain great hair, whichever style she decides to rock. I know I just added another thing we have in common, as we both love using the Living Proof line.
Available at Sephora, Ulta, Nordstrom, some salons, QVC and at Livingproof.com right now.
