(Giveaway) Spring/Summer 2011 Hairstyle Trends For Black, Latina Or Mixed Race Women (Processed, Relaxed, Kinky Or Curly )

UPDATE: Hot off the runway is a photo spread of the latest hairstyles. See them here–>> Spring/Summer 2013 Hairstyle Trends For White, Black, Asian and Mixed Race Women.

Spring is here –well, almost — and summer is fast approaching and fashion’s forecast is ripe with the celebration of all things feminine, functional and fun. If you’ve been following some of our hair trend predictions, you’re already familiar with the  Ombre Color Streaming as well as Hair Feathering Extensions and the retro 80’s trend of Hair Crimping.

To help us tease out the big hairstyle trends for Black, Latina, Mixed-Race and women with kinky, curly hair, we contacted the experts at PHYTO Haircare. This line taps into the synergy of plants to treat a variety of hair types. Celebrity hair stylist, Ron Williams, tells us that their take on ethnic hair is texture, treatment and time saving styling techniques using the PhytoSpecific line for CurlyFrizzy, Relaxed Hair.  Phyto says that the hair trends for Spring/Summer 2011 will range from sleek and smooth, curly with volume to tightly coiled Honey Blonde locks with frizz under control (click on the images below to enlarge).

Here’s how you can get the specific looks:

1. Naturally Curly with Volume and Waves: The hair was shampooed with the Intense Nutrition Shampoo and conditioned with Intense Nutrition Mask. Integral Hydrating Mist and Energizing Concentrate were applied to hair before using a diffuser. Then, the Nourishing Styling Crème and a curling iron were used to give natural curls a more coiffed look. Then, the Extreme Shine Spray was used for a spectacular finish!

Tip: Gently drop curls into the diffuser to keep frizz under control.

2. Now that’s a Smooth Operator! Hair was relaxed with PhytoSpecific Index 2 (Egg and Soy active extracts), and  Integral Hydrating Mist was applied before the blow-out.  A dime size of Nourishing Styling Crème was applied to mid-shaft and ends. The look was sealed with Extreme Shine Spray.

Tip: A flat iron / large curling can be used to enhance the face framing wispy fringe.

3. It’s About My Texture and Shape: Hair was texturized using PhytoSpecific Index 1 (Egg and Soy extracts) solely to enhance the curl pattern and keep frizz under control during the warm weather. Integral Hydrating Mist and Hydra-Repairing Spray For Dry Ends were used to maintain optimal hydration. Gently diffuse hair (to damp) and apply quarter size of Moisturizing Styling Crème. Extreme Shine Spray for mega volt shine!

Tip: Hair should not be combed when completely dried. Define curls with fingers and twist sections as needed.  Apply styling products to wet or damp hair only for this look.

4. A Taste of Honey and Tendrils: Naturally curly hair was pre-treated with Revitalizing Oil, then shampooed with Vital Force Shampoo and treated with Vital Force Crème Bath (restructuring conditioner). Energizing Concentrate and Integral Hydrating Mist were applied to damp hair. A quarter size of Moisturizing Styling Crème was also applied and hair was dried on low with a diffuser.  Extreme Shine Spray and wow!

Tip: Curls were enhanced with ultra small curling iron for definition.
