Summer Hairstyle Trend 2013: How To Get Emma Watson's Braided Updo At Bling Ring Movie Premiere

Emma Watson, star of the new pop blockbuster Bling Ring, recently sported a chic intertwined braided updo on the red carpet for the premiere of her new movie.

This sultry look is sophisticated yet youthful, having an artistic feel. It’s also great for summer, as it allows you to keep your hair out of your face. The coiled curls in the back provide an additional wow-factor creating visual dimension.

While this may look like it takes a master stylist to achieve, it is actually fairly simple to create yourself. Mario Russo, leading expert hairstylist and owner of Salon Mario Russo in Boston, MA, loves this elegant yet edgy look so much, he has put together an easy-to-follow 10-step guide to recreating Emma’s look at home.

Step 1. Wash hair with Bumble and Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo ($24.00) and Surf Creme Rinse Conditioner ($25.00).

Step 2. Blow-dry hair loosely with a 2” round brush using Oribe Supershine Light Moisturizing Cream ($49.00) for soft, smooth hair.

Step 3. Once dry, generously layer in Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray ($39.00) for texture and grip.

Step 4.  With a fine-tooth comb, make a deep side part by using the peak of your eyebrow as a guide, then brush the hair through to the back on both sides and secure each with a hair tie to keep them separated.

Step 5. Begin with the side that has less hair. Unfasten the hair tie and just above the ear begin French-braiding, working the braid down to the nape of the neck, then fasten with a hair tie.

Step 6. Repeat this process on the opposite side but divide the hair into two sections to allow you to braid two narrower lines on this side: the first should be parallel to temples and the second should be close to the crown.

Step 7. Once the three pieces have been braided to the nape of the head, merge the remaining hair together and braid in the middle to the end of the ponytail.

Step 8.  Once the braid is finished, twist the hair into a bun at the base of the neck.

Step 9.  Secure the braid bun with 4-6 bobby pins.

Step10. Finish the look by lightly spraying hair with hairspray for hold and shine!
