2013 Makeup Trends: Best Holiday Red Lipstick Shades To Wear: For Blonde, Olive, Dark Skin Tones

The holidays are right around the corner — and red lips always make a statement! Personally, I love red lips all year round, but feel even more inclined to wear the hot color during the holidays, — it’s just so festive! If you are shy about wearing red lips, take the holidays as a perfect opportunity to wear the sensational color. Red lipstick can scare some people if they have not found the perfect red for their skin tone and undertone. Today, I have quite a few budget-friendly lip colors to show you for this year’s festivities. These reds are not only festive, but great colors to have in your beauty arsenal for any occasion.

NYX Matte Lipstick in Alabama – $5.99

This is a brick-red that reminds me of M·A·C ‘s Viva Glam I. This lipstick is fairly neutral, but I do think all skin tones can wear it. It’s also a good alternative if you are not a big fan of bright lipsticks.

Kate Moss Rimmel Lipstick in 001-$4.99

This lipstick is a bright, red lipstick that suits all skin tones. Yes, all skin tones! It has a satin finish and I have seen this shade on the lightest of skin tones to the darkest, and I love how it looks on everyone. This is one of my favorite reds in my collection.

Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in The Red 04 – $12.00

Another fabulous red lipstick! What I love about this is that it stays on forever and really stands out. I always get compliments when I wear this lip color. It’s a deeper bright-red, but still a staple. I’ve also seen many Sephora girls wearing this and they look amazing. This has a satin finish, although it looks glossy here in the photo.

Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Fire & Ice – $7.99

I am obsessed with this red! One of Revlon’s classic shades of red that is universally flattering. This red leans a tad pink on me, given my undertone, but this shade is truly a standout, having a creme finish.

NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red – $5.99

This is my favorite holiday red! It’s a deep, knockout red and the formula lasts forever. This lip cream definitely packs a lot of pigment and is easy for touch-ups. It has a glossy finish, but it sticks to the lips, so don’t expect this to slide off anytime soon.  So tell us, which shade is your fave?
