Makeup Trends: Daniella Kallmeyer Spring Summer 2011 Fashion Week

THE TREND: BRONZED SKIN, MASCARA AND PINKY-CORAL LIPS

Daniella Kallmeyer (1st runner up of Bravo TV’s The Fashion Show last season) created the Poor Little Rich Girl Collection for her Spring/Summer 2011 Fashion Week show, but Orlando Santiago, the lead make-up artist for the show, gave the model’s faces just the right amount of punchy color with his parallel concept of “South of France Pretty Little Rich Girl.”

Santiago’s premise of a beachy girl who uses a few basic products on the fly to look great relied heavily on bronzer, specifically Make Up For Ever’s Mat Bronze #6 dusted all over the face. The make-up artist emphasized cheekbones with the same company’s Sculpting Kit #10 and highlighted them with their Diamond Cream #7. To keep the eyes bright, Santiago reminded all his subordinate artists to use the Make Up For Ever Concealer Pencil on the inner rim of the eye, to make them appear larger. A light dusting of Eye Shadow #126 and some clumpy-on-purpose mascara completed the eyes, while the lips popped on this tan canvas with Rouge Artist #38, a soft pinky-coral lipstick.

To follow in this vein, the hair for the show fell in soft, undone waves pulled back from the face with pins, and alternately cascading down the back or forming a loose updo, depending on the model. The moral of this show: Look great, but don’t look like you tried to hard.
