Malynda Vigliotti (aka Boom Boom) is obsessed with brows with 130,000+ served at Boom Boom Brow Bar in NYC! Everyone should have thick gorgeous eyebrows; after all, they are the most important feature on the face and the best accessory ever! Boom Boom knows there’s no such thing as natural beauty, but she does believe a perfectly done brow is an instant eyelift – no Botox necessary! She makes waxing fun and affordable for everyone, just walk-in!
“Our clients started looking for straighter more masculine brow shapes last season…the shape many of the models had with less of an arch that makes you look younger, and the shape is still going strong,” says Boom Boom. But, achieving a straight brow takes finesse. Jessica Bartley, expert brow tender at Boom Boom Brow Bar, straightens brows out for a living and thinks everyone should know these three things before walking the line.
“The straight brow is the shape du jour, but the thing to remember when transitioning to a straighter shape is, less is always more! Take your time in the transition, you will get there, but going from one extreme to another can backfire,” adds Bartley.
How to take an arch from high to straight. Use a brow powder to fill in the section where the brow arch lifts up, so that the fullest part of the brow in the front is level with the end of the brow. This gives the illusion that the end of the brow is lifting up, without making them shorter. (see chart below: fill in the space on the line of D so that it is a straight line).
The end of the brow should be a straight line from the nostril through the corner of the eye. Shortening them to make them appear straighter is a bad move, because it’s very difficult to regrow the ends of your brows. (see line C)
Always try out new brow shapes with makeup a few times before you commit to a new shape! Like the old saying goes… “Measure twice, cut once.” You want to be sure you like the way something looks before you and your brow specialist make any big commitments!
