Maybe this may sound materialistic to those of you who don’t know me personally, but I have aspirations of someday owning the famous black quilted Chanel handbag. It’s been on my visionary board for years; one day I decided to treat myself to one from a wonderful thrift store in my neighborhood and found out later that day that my partner at the time had lost his job.
Of course, I had to resell it and will own it someday when I reach a point that I feel comfortable with spending my very hard-earned money on a very much-wanted handbag!
With that being said, the closest I get to the bag is to review and sample Chanel’s lovely beauty products. This gives me great pleasure, as I love their packaging, consistency of their high quality collections and also their integrity of keeping the brand in the same vain as when it started. I have heard a lot of friends comment on how brands have been changing formulas, or have been breaking more easily, yet that is never the case when I review Chanel. None of my reviews have had this issue, and if a brand changed its formula I tell our beautystatnistas and it’s usually for the better!
Named after the precious beauty of spring, the new collection PRINTEMPS PRÉCIEUX DE CHANEL celebrates Gabrielle Chanel‘s qualities of simplicity and sophistication. Creative director of Chanel makeup Peter Philips channels the season’s splendor with a multitude of contrasts. Elegant neutrals complement soft-to-sultry pinks on face and lips, while nails are adorned with vivid polish.
The collection includes:
Poudre Signee De Chanel Illuminating Powder ($69.00 – limited-edition) which is embossed with the iconic emblems of Chanel and creates a natural radiance to the skin wherever it is applied. The new sponge applicator makes it easy to sweep over your cheeks; I also put a small amount as a highlighter underneath my brow bone.
Vitalumuiere ($55.00-not sampled) in a sandy rose (Soft Bisque) is a moisture-rich radiance fluid sunscreen (Yes, it is warm somewhere).
Les 4 Ombres Quadra Eye Shadow in Raffinement ($59.00 ) offers rich mauve, pearly pink-beige, shimmering lilac and deep eggplant colors. These colors can be used as a subtle look or bumped up to seductive. When I choose a more dramatic look, I tend to use the darkest color as my liner and add some depth to the corner of my lids as well.
Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Liner ($30.00 – not sampled) comes in new shades of brown (Santal– limited-edition), vibrant lilac (Beryl) and a rosy beige (Or Rose – limited-edition) to accentuate the eyes.
Joues Contraste Powder Blush ($43.00) will be available in an luminous apricot shade, Frivole.
Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color ($34.00 each) will be available in shades of brown (Captivante-sampled), soft rose (Fantasque – sampled and limited-edition), shimmering violet-plum (Envoutante) and fresh peach (Precieuse – limited-edition).
Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour ($34.00 each) will be available in a vibrant pink (L’Eclatante – sampled) and a rich coral (La Favorite).
Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss ( $32.00 each and not sampled) will be available in both a lilac rosewood (Merville) and a coppery beige (Attirance – limited-edition). These add pure shine and intense color, and are also long-wearing lipglosses.
Le Crayon Levres are precision lip definers ($29.00 each) that will be available in a vibrant pink (Rubellite) and a refined brown (Palissandre).
Le Vernis Nail Colour ($27.00) will be available in classic pink (Fracas – sampled and limited-edition), a natural, rosy beige (Emprise) and a deep red-brown (Accessoire).
This collection will be available at department and specialty stores and on chanel.com in January 2013. Cheers to Chanel for once again making a sophisticated and elegant collection that is appropriate for all. Notice the limited-edition colors mentioned above as they seem to sell ever so quickly!
