Makeup Review, Swatches: Chanel Hong Kong Collection Spring 2013 – Eyeshadow, Chocolate Nail Polish

Makeup Review, Swatches: Chanel Hong Kong De Chanel Collection Spring 2013 - Eyeshadow, Chocolate Nail Polish

A limited-edition capsule collection was recently released from Chanel that was inspired by the colors of Hong Kong, which happens to be the newest city to have a Chanel boutique, says Yahoo News. The new line of metallic beauty products was inspired by one of Asia’s financial and cultural hotspots: Hong Kong.

This limited-edition collection features the Ombres Matelassées Eyeshadow Palette in Pearl River Shade ($80.00) comprised of five gold-infused shadows that were created to recall the luminous beauty of Hong Kong, reflected in the China Sea. The two darkest shades may be used as eyeliner; this palette also includes one double-tipped sponge brush, as well as one dual-sided brush/sponge applicator.

Le Vernis in Western Light ($30.00) is a deep chocolate with a touch of burnished red. Its polar opposite, Eastern Light ($30.00), is a modern opaque white.

The two paired together offer so many varieties, and I would love to do an opposite French or side-French manicure with these two contrasting shades. Nail art is all the rage, so it would be fun to explore these two colors as they are reminiscent of NYFW backstage patterns I have seen before. It’s long-wearing and chip resistant, too. Available at Chanel counters and online at Chanel.com, this capsule is absolutely modern and fun.

  1. These are some fantastic colors for spring and will also carry you through summer, I love the Pear River Shades by Chanel. and I love the Yeng/Yang of the Nail Polish great choices too. Great choice Le Vernis

  2. I believe the new colors from Chanel are gorgeous colors. I am very “pickey” when it comes to eyeshadow colors but these are the perfect colors for me. I am bolder on the eyeliner so between the lighter shadows and the brighter eyeliner everything equals out! Of course, for my “pocket book” the price is “a little” steep for me but if I had the money just sitting around or just wanted to “splurge” I would definitely consider these Chanel Ombres Matlassees Eyeshadow Palette in the Pearl River Shades and also the Le Vernes in Western Light and Eastern Light are impeccable colors and I love them! 🙂

  3. I probably will buy the palette because those are colors I tend to use a lot
