I always want to know the mystery and intrigue that goes behind each Dior makeup collections. And this Dior Mystic Metallics Fall 2013 Collection is a very interesting one.

Christian Dior was a superstitious gent whom, in 1946, stumbled upon a brass star which was said to have fallen off a wheel of a horse-drawn carriage. It had a hole in the middle of it, and it is said that he would keep the token with him and rub it daily for good luck.
This, along with a four leaf clover, a piece of wood, two gold hearts and a lily of the valley were his charms. The enigmatic star symbol soon became a decorative element in the designer’s private residences, as well as a strong code of his Maison de Couture.

The star has become a focal point in a more modern way for the new collector’s edition eyeshadow palette from Dior. The new 5 Couleurs Mystic Metallics Eyeshadow Palette ($61.00) features varying star patterns imprinted on the pigments.
Available in two unique harmonies (Bonne Etoile and Constellation; both Nordstrom exclusives), one features warm brown, emerald, aqua, teal-blue and rosy-gray, while the other features pale pink, taupe, mauve-gray, silvery beige and deep purple.

The overall look focuses on a luminous smoky eye. Lips, whether vibrant or nude, emit a brilliant shine. Nails feature pearly finishes of soft pink and rich plum. The complete fall look is playful, elegant and polished — all at the same time.
