Thinking back, my favorite fashion model icons have to be IMAN, Beverly Johnson and Christie Brinkley. They were the hottest models of the late ’70s and ’80s. Fast forward years later — I met Beverly Johnson via the music industry; fast forward again to my career in beauty, and I am standing in the same room with THE IMAN. Now, to be able to review this amazing line of products is coming full circle.

So, back to this BB Crème ($20.00). After I received this in the mail (in several shades), I could not wait to try them. Upon first impression I was curious, “Would this cream feel like a foundation?”– it didn’t.

The consistency was light, but the coloring is rich and sheer at the same time. IMAN BB Crème is available almost every shade for women of color. There’s literally a zillion shades to choose from! Colors range from earth, clay and sand tones. All together, there are six shades which cover 36 ethnicities! As the first multicultural BB Cream to hit the market, doesn’t this make one wonder why other companies aren’t following suit?

Ingredients/Benefits:

• Grape seed oil, acai and vitamin A fight fine lines and wrinkles
• Vitamin E, sweet almond oil and aloe hydrate and soothe skin with a paraben-free formula
• Brightens and fights hyperpigmentation with vitamin C and licorice root extract
• Compliments skin of color with a natural hint of pigment derived from iron oxides
• Protects with SPF 15 and natural antioxidants

I wore the BB Crème all day, running around the city. It blends in easily and is quite sheer; there wasn’t a glare of ash or dryness.

Left to Right: Earth Medium, Clay Medium and Clay Medium Deep

Normally, I do not wear foundation or tinted moisturizer — I am not a fan of the made-up look. But, this was different. Turns out I did not need to do any touch-ups on my skin besides a little blush. The shade that best complimented my skin was Clay Medium Deep — my perfect match!

By the end of the day I’d normally be wiping off my cakey face makeup, but my skin felt like I was not wearing any makeup at all. To test out my theory I asked the Mister what he thought. Response: “You’re wearing makeup? Really? I can’t see anything.”
