With last summer’s unveiling of Marc Jacobs Beauty, we now have seasonal collections to look forward to! Marc’s rule-breaking creativity is at the heart of his makeup. For him, it’s all about the spirit of youth, confidence and experimentation — and Holiday 2013 is no different.

This season, Marc has added to his collection luminizing powders, a quintessential Marc-red lipstick and glitter dust eyeshadows.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Lightshow Luminizing Powder in Close-Up ($59.00) — This luxurious limited-edition luminizing powder offers subtle bronzing effect with a blend of 4 luminous shades in one compact.

The powder design is inspired by the fishnet pattern sewn in the Marc Jacobs Fall 2013 runway show. Spherical polymer emollients provide a creamy texture for a sensual, velvety finish and exceptionally long wear.

Marc Jacobs Beauty LoveMarc Lip Gel in 134 Showstopper ($30.00) — When Marc debuts a sensational red lipstick shade, you bet I’ll be excited! Unlike traditional waxy lipsticks, LoveMarc’s cutting-edge, gellified formula delivers the utmost in creaminess, comfort, and color payoff.

With a subtle scent of vanilla (Yum!), monoi butter — a velvety cream made from the tropical tiare flower — provides intense hydration, while myrrh extract works to reduce the signs of aging; an innovative 3-D plumping agent adds gentle volume.

This red is more brick-red than a typical tomato red shade you might expect for the holiday season. I was surprised at how well it matched my fair skintone, brightening up my overall makeup look, unexpectedly. The formula doesn’t feel too much like a gel, more velvet in texture. It stays put for a pretty long time, and the soft curvature of the tip hugs all the corners of your lips.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Tonite Lights Glitter Dust ($32.00) — Achieve a glittery eye that is weightless, transformative and long-wearing. These sparkling eyeshadows are formulated for a weightless shine and a velvety shimmer finish.

Wear alone or layered for eye-catching drama, day or night. The secret is sugar crystals, which create a transparent base and a shimmering pearlescent reflection for the ultimate holiday sparkle.

306 Blacklight

Three new shades for the glitter dusts include: 302 Stagelight (translucent overlay of iridescent sparkle; swatched), 304 Ultraviolet Light (soft plum with an overlay of iridescent sparkle, swatched) and 306 Blacklight (smoky black with an overlay of iridescent sparkle).

The chic black-lacquered case is home to these shiny shades. 302 Stagelight is very sheer in color, adding just the right amount of iridescent white sparkle to any eyeshadow color; 304 Ultraviolet Light is a beautiful plum shade, which I layered on top of a brown eyeshadow to add sparkle without the fallout and a heavy coating of glitter.

They are best to be used with your fingertips, so you can gently press the color and shine into your eyelid. Their texture is oddly appealing: not too gritty and not too soft that you’d mistaken them for a cream eyeshadow. It’s definitely a fun accessory to add to your holiday makeup look!
