A new collection has been released by TopShop Make-Up. The goal of this collection is to help create a sleek, polished makeup look with lots of colors. Perfect for spring!
The Lip Paint shade that I tried was called Yeah Right, which is a very warm red with an orange undertone. This product is an average-sized lipgloss with your standard doe foot applicator. The smell of this product is very nice: it smells like vanilla to me, however, if you do not like scented products you may not like the smell of this one. It’s not so strong that you will smell it when you’re wearing it though.
This product claims to give lightweight, elastic color; it also claims to remain flexible throughout the day as you wear it with “jellified structure and [a] liquid formula.” I think this product applies very nicely, very evenly and wears off around the same.
If you are looking for a product that will literally stain your lips, this is it. This product wears off evenly as well as you get towards the end of your day, but I found that even after removing this product with a makeup remover wipe, the color still clung to my lips a bit (WOW!). I would recommend this product if you are a fan of long-wearing lip products. The finish of this particular shade is a satiny, creamy color. It’s not a completely flat matte, but there are no shimmers in it.
The next product is a set of five travel-sized brushes: Make Up Brush Set ($36.00). These synthetic brushes have comfortable perspex handles for an easy application. I really like these brushes, as they are small, great for traveling and are extremely soft! These are probably some of the softest synthetic brushes that I have ever felt and used!
The brushes you will get with in this set include: a large brush, which could be used for blush, bronzer or face powder; a crease/blending brush; a large angled brush; a large angled concealer brush and a flat shading/concealer brush.
Of course, you do not have to use these products for their specific “purpose,” you can use them however you like, but these are the functions that I think the brushes were meant to be used for.
After washing these brushes, I did not experience any shedding or any of the dye discoloring the water at all (bonus points!). I think these brushes are very high quality for the price point. Also, I love the fact that the handles are clear — I think they are very aesthetically pleasing, and I like the little “TopShop” logo written on the sides of them. The handle for the powder brush kind of has a fatter handle in the middle, which gets thinner towards the top and bottom, but not by much.
Overall, the brushes apply product beautifully. I did not experience any issues in that area. Since they are synthetic, they would be ideal for use with cream products. I think the angled liner brush may be a little too large to use as an eyeliner brush, or a brush to fill in your brows with (unless you have thicker, fuller brows that is).
In conclusion, I think both of these products are great. I am interested to try out other colors of the Lip Paints because I enjoy that concept. If you are looking for good, synthetic brushes, I would give the brush set a try as well. It comes with a very nice travel-sized bag for you to carry them along with as well.
