SHU Uemura partnered up with Korean powerhouse Kathleen Kye to represent the latest in Korean beauty. Both SHU Beauty and SHU Hair joined forces to unveil a 24-piece set that includes bold brow groomers, PH-balance fluorescent lip balms, fresh cushion blushes, best-selling hair conditioners, cleansing oils and more in KYE’s illustrative packaging. Building upon her original design universe of line drawing, she fused the motifs with inspiration from the city of Seoul and its young generation. The SHU Uemura x Kye packaging is fun, youthful and bold. It definitely stands out in any handbag.
I tried the Brow:Palette ($45) , in Cappuccino x dark rose, a limited edition, easy-to-use duo brow powder palette with pre-selected matte shades that have a comfortable and smooth texture for easy application and blending. It comes with pre-set brush and sponge applicators. Take the lighter color on the tip of the brush and draw the overall eyebrow shape. In the center of the eyebrow, apply the darker color to create natural dimension. The cappuccino shade is an ashy grey, which compliments many skin tones and hair colors. The brush applicator, though different from a traditional pencil or gel, allows for precise, natural strokes which mimic real hair growth. The rose shade create a reddish dimension that can be built up for desired color. The palette also comes in seal brown x stone gray, a warmer brown and walnut brown x acorn, a darker, ashy grey/brown duo.
I also tried the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil ($42) A cashmere-like cocooning cleansing oil that is perfect for makeup removal. Ultime8 complex delivers softer, smoother and moisturized skin for an exquisite makeup finish. Infused with 8 exquisite oils from botanical origin, carefully sought out from Chinese medicines and beauty oils all over the world. Its floral scent envelopes you, leaving skin clean and soft, but not over-cleansed and dry. I put the gentle oil all over my face and used a cognac sponge to remove my makeup. I then washed everything off with warm water. My skin felt very soft.
Kathleen Kye’s unisex, high-fashion streetwear has taken Seoul’s K-pop style global. Her brand KYE features a graphically punctuated design that is fresh, fun and has won her the crown of high priestess of “Korean Kool.” KYE’s bold and witty designs with street-art inspired textile patterns are worn by the who’s who of pop charts and movie screens from Seoul to Hollywood, with fans including Rihanna, Rita Ora and more.
