Bobbi Brown’s emphasis is on eyes this July, and the Tortoise Shell Collection was inspired by her own tortoise shell frames and designed the collection to complement (not compete) with your glasses.
Now that I think about it, glasses are really and truly sexy (if you had a doubt, remember Lois Lane when she put her glasses on in Superman? The same goes for Clark Kent too. Enough said).
The shades of the eye shadow range from bronze to gold to espresso and the compacts themselves are gorgeous tortoise shell with gold detailing. The makeup artist herself said, “When it comes to eye makeup and glasses, I believe in keeping things simple.”
And simple is what you’ll get in the eye shadow compact that is part of the Tortoise Shell Collection. It’s very Grace Kelly that you’re apt to pair this with a chic scarf and go to the Hamptons. It retails for $60 and I know that intuitively that’s a lot for someone to shell out (no pun intended) for the compact but the fact you’re getting eight shades that come in a variety of formulations is good value for the price. The Tortoise Shell Collection also comes with a mini brush set ($55) and a Rich Lip Color ($22).
If you’re wearing glasses, here are some of Bobbi’s priceless tips:
1) Less is more, so keep the eye makeup simple and definitely use corrector and concealer;
2) Eye liner is a must; to define your eyes more, use a liner that is darker than the natural shade of your eyes.
3) Make sure your brows are defined.
The collection hits online retails in July 2011. Are you a glasses gal? If so, how do you respond to this collection? Does it fill your needs? Leave a comment below and let us know. By doing so, we’ll sign you up for our weekly newsletter and you’ll get chances to win free beauty product samples.
