For Alice + Olivia’s FW 2017 collection, Stacey Bendet was inspired by Salman Rushdie’s book The Enchantress of Florence, a story about a mysterious woman using her powers of enchantment to control her own destiny in a man’s world. Rita Remark for essie drew on the romantic and punk vibes from the collection, honing in on the black patent leather fabric to create two different manicures that mimic patent leather with gold studs.
Get The Look:
1.Start by applying first base base coat on each nail.
2.Then, apply two coats of licorice.
3.Using a double-sided dotting tool, create a large gold “stud” effect on the nails with good as gold near the cuticle.
4.Place a second smaller dot with good as gold using the smaller opposite end of the dotting tool right above it.
5.Finish with gel•setter top coat for a high shine effect.
At the Marchesa show, the nail look was “Midnight Tulip”, created by Nail Tech Naomi Gonzalez for ZOYA
“At Marchesa, we created a custom blend of ZOYA color, Midnight Tulip, to deliver the grandiose feel of Imperial China to the runway nails” – Naomi Gonzalez, Lead Manicurist for ZOYA
The Marchesa FW 2017 collection featured silk tulles and satins adorned with colorful metallic embroideries featuring lush florals created with fine silks, laces and feathers. Drawing inspiration from Imperial China and infused with designer’s signature asethetic, ZOYA’s Willa, Courtney and Katherine were blended to create a rich nail look.
After cleaning and prepping the nail with ZOYA Remove +, add a base coat of Naked Manicure Naked Base and a surface smoothing Naked Manicure Perfector. For the color, paint two coats of Zoya Carey (or recreate the custom blend from the show using equal parts ZOYA Willa and Courtney, with a few drops of Katherine). Complete the look with Naked Manicure Glossy Seal to give the nail shiny finish. Use ZOYA Fast Drops to dry nails quickly.
With nails by Unistella, the brand created an ink painted rounded stiletto nail to emulate Leanne Marshall‘s signature hand-painted gowns and incorporate the grays, red, and blacks found in her collection.
Inspired by a “vixen’s lovestory, ” Michael Costello’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection starts off with a dainty feel in both colors and materials, and ends on a tougher note, and Rita Remark for essie wanted the nails to mirror that. She created a copper wire nail using Penny Talk as an accent color, choosing it specifically because it matches the hardware throughout the collection.
- Begin by applying one coat of grow stronger on clean nails to create a healthy manicure.
- Then, coat nails with one coat of tuck it in my tux and let dry.
- Next, pour penny talk onto a piece of tin foil and dip a fan brush (from your local beauty supply store) lightly into it.
- Then, swipe back and forth horizontally across the tip of the nail to create light, dry brush strokes just along the tip.
- Finish with gel.setter.
