The 20th annual competition for the beauty industry’s highest honor happened on March 5th, as Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) kicked off its Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards season with a Product Demonstration.
To mark the two-decade milestone, CEW will launch the Iconic Beauty Award honoring products with more than 20-years of leadership in the industry.
More than 2,100 industry insiders attended the Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards Product Demonstration at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. Members had the opportunity to test more than 650 products launched during 2013 at the sold-out session and vote for their favorites after the event.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the CEW Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards,” says Carlotta Jacobson, President of CEW.
“The Product Demonstration provides the beauty industry with an opportunity to showcase its most innovative products, and we are delighted to have more than 760 products competing for the prestigious CEW Beauty Awards seal in 2014.”
CEW members and 6,000 beauty industry executives voted to select the finalists in each of the 31 categories. After the finalists are announced on April 4th, CEW’s Board of Governors, along with other industry experts, will vote to determine the winners, who will be announced at the Beauty Awards Luncheon on May 16th at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City. Winners will be judged based on innovation, delivery system and packaging.
What’s New For 2014:
Iconic Beauty Award: In celebration of 20-years of the Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards, CEW has launched the new Iconic Beauty Award. The award, powered by DSM Personal Care, will recognize 2 products (one in mass and one in prestige) that have transcended 20 or more years in the industry. Product entrants were showcased at the Product Demonstration and the award winners will be announced at the CEW Beauty Awards Luncheon.
CEW on Instagram: Live updates from the industry’s biggest beauty counter will be disseminated in real-time via CEW’s new Instagram feed @CEWinsider. Instagram will be used to illustrate the road to the Beauty Awards, pay homage to iconic products from the past 20-years and give Insiders a behind-the-scenes look at the organization. Instagram will be added to CEW’s existing social media platforms on Twitter (@CEWinsider) and Facebook (CosmeticExecutiveWomen).
Meredith Corporation Partnership: CEW and the Meredith Corporation have partnered to reach consumers through Meredith’s multiple media platforms, which include magazines, television and digital properties. In addition to driving awareness for the awards, the partnership will align the CEW Beauty Awards with Meredith’s Beauty Center of Excellence, a consumer insights-driven beauty leadership group and content curator with its finger on the pulse of what real women want when it comes to beauty.
Eco Beauty Award Finalists: CEW has also announced its 2014 Eco Beauty Award Finalists. These brands were featured in the Givaudan space at the Product Demo. The award, presented by Givaudan, recognized a brand that has moved toward the goal of sustainability. The Eco Award was established to encourage the beauty industry to take steps towards creating sustainable products, and the criteria are based upon science-based sustainability principles promoted by The Natural Step. Eco Beauty Award Finalists were vetted and selected by The Natural Step. The winner is chosen by the Eco Beauty Award Committee and will be announced at the Beauty Awards Luncheon on May 16th.
