The Laura Mercier Dark Spell Fall 2013 Collection is everything I love about fall colors – rich tones and smoky eyes. Inspired by the “magical ways of women”, this color story mixes mystery and fantasy, allowing you to create your own enchanting look that demands attention.
I just loved the Baked Eye Colour ($23.00) in Magical, a beautiful shimmering white base with a black accent, and the super-sparkly black eyeshadow in Mystical, while the Satin Matte Eye Colour ($23.00) in Dark Spirit is an intense black shade.
Things are getting folky with the Laura Mercier Folklore Spring 2013 Collection – Copper and Gold Eyeshadow, Coral Lip Crayon. See swatches —> HERE!
They all blend beautifully, but before eyeshadow can be applied, you must first apply the Eye Canvas ($26.00).
This product is amazing — the best eyeshadow base I’ve used! It looks innocent enough, just like a concealer, but it absorbs any excess oil allowing for a perfect eyeshadow application with exceptional wear – no creasing or smudging.
The Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($24.00) in Smoke — a rich, sparkly black, is a soft pencil-like product that applies softly and blends easily; it wears for hours without smudging.
Also for eyes is the Kohl Liner Extreme ($24.00), a matte-black pointed bullet liner great for lining the inner rim of the eye.
Check out some soft pink nails and chocolate lips from Laura Mercier: Nude Nail Polish Lacquer, Lip Glacé Gloss In Quartz. See swatches —> HERE!
There’s a new Lip Plumper in Charmed; Rose Flush is a touch more intense than the color of your natural lips. There is a slight tingle after applying this product, but it is very subtle and does the job — lips plump up nicely.
Crème Smooth Lip Colour ($26.00) in Angelic (a nude) and Merlot (a rich burgundy) offer a good balance to the strong eye look in this collection.
The Faux Lash Mascara ($24.00) has the plushest brush I have ever used! At first I was a little overwhelmed, but I did get used to it: lashes are transformed into dramatically long, full lashes.
Bewitched is a super shimmery black polish with green and gold pearls; Forbidden is a silver pearl shade. After a season of clean, bright nail colors, these dark, fast-drying shades look right.
New products are also being introduced in this collection: the Longwear Crème Eye Pencils ($24.00) are fantastic. I tried Espresso and Cobalt. They are so easy-to-apply, with no dragging upon application. Cobalt is a really pretty, clean subtle bright blue; Espresso is a rich brown. There are 6 shades and each pencil comes with its own sharpener.
Other new product introductions are Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour ($24.00) – 100% wax-free lip color. I can’t get enough of Myth, a berry shade. It is in a slimline case, which always reminds of the matte lipsticks of the ‘90s that were always very drying, but that’s not the case here.
This formula is so lightweight and long-wearing, it feels really comfortable on your lips.
The Foundation Primer Protect Broad Spectrum SPF 30 PA +++ is so lightweight you could apply it to clean skin or on top of your favorite moisturizer to set the stage for flawless skin. I really liked it. I tried it on top of moisturizer, followed by foundation.
My foundation wore well into the night without having to touch it up. Smooth Finish Foundation Powder ($45.00) can be used wet or dry. It glides on smoothly, providing excellent coverage when wet or dry. Available in 20 shades.
