Review, Photos, Swatches: Laura Mercier Spring 2012 Belle Nouveau Collection - Soft Shades of Pastels and Bronze

I love Laura Mercier products, so I was of course excited to see what she was offering this spring. The Belle Nouveau Collection was inspired by Laura’s background as a painter and her love for the Art Nouveau era’s innovative spirit. This collection focuses on soft but daring colors that are playful, yet romantic. That seems to be the running theme this spring. Romance!

The collection has a lot of limited edition shades. Her first ever colored mascara, Long Lash Mascara ($24.00) in Bleu, Nail Lacquer ($18.00) in Lavender Cloud, and Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($24.00) in Turquoise. She is also launching Sheer Crème Eye Colors ($22.00) in three new shades: Mauve Pastel, Grey Pastel and Aqua Pastel. Lip Glacé ($24.00) in Camellia (pictured), Orange Tulip and Lotus Blossom.

The Camellia lip glacé is a lovely sheer pink. It also has a high-shine and is long-lasting. It also has a warm vanilla scent and isn’t sticky! Crème Lip Print ($20.00; pictured above) also has three new limited edition colors for spring: Nude Beige, Nude Pink and Nude Coral. At first when I opened the case, I thought it was a crème blush (lol). But then I realized, ‘oh, this is for lips!’ With these products you can pop out of the case and use them to personalize your own Laura Mercier Custom Artist Portfolio Animation Palette (which I reviewed before!) The Lip Glacé glided on my lips, not too dry and not too wet. And wore very nicely, all day.

Last but not least are the tanning products! As I have mentioned in previous posts, Laura was responsible for Madonna’s tan look in her ‘Ray of Light’ music video. And you know how I worship Madonna. Two new products that Laura is launching are the Sheer Crème Colour ($22.00) in Copper Glow Veil and Body Bronzing Makeup ($38.00). I tried the Copper Glow Veil and it has, again, a nice and smooth texture. I applied with my fingers and it blended seamlessly over my skin. For my skin tone, I did like the Sheer Crème Color better in Bronze Veil — I am fair/medium toned. But for someone who already has some color this would be very nice to warm up the skin.

Overall, I give this launch 7 out of 10. I would have given a higher ranking except for the fact that the line is mainly limited edition, not permanent to the line.

Available at Bloomingdales, Bergdorf Goodman, Henri Bendel, Neiman Marcus if in Paramus, N.J.) go see my friend May! She is an amazing artist!) Saks Fifth Ave, and select Belk, Blue Mercury Lord and Taylor, Macy’s and www.lauramercier.com.

So, are you going to be rocking the pastel, romantic look this spring?
