“The most modern way to wear bright color is an accent on an otherwise neutral face. “ – Bobbi Brown

Bobbi couldn’t describe her collection any better. I have had the good fortune of working for Bobbi for many years. I have to say, that when I first saw the Spring 2012 Neon and Nudes Collection I was so excited! Neons bring me back to my childhood, when I first started to play in my mother’s cosmetic draw. However, this collection is most definitely for adults: Its fun, colorful and most of all WEARABLE!!

The first item I couldn’t’ wait to get my hands on was the Ultra Nude Eye Palette ($45.00). Bobbi is the master when it comes to making complimentary eye palettes. I used to have clients say to me, They all look the same. More browns. Then I would put the shadows on, and they could see she managed to put a different spin on a neutral look. Every season, I was amazed at how she could take a brown shade and make it different. This collection is no exception. It consists of six shades:

Chino (Light cool beige)
Praline Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow (Nude with golden pearl)
Pink Chandelier Metallic Eye Shadow (Warm pink with golden pearl)
Stone Eye Shadow (Neutral grey brown)
Champagne Truffle Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow (Warm pink beige)
Cocoa Berry Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow (Rich brown plum)

Two additional eye shadow shades were also added to the collection to help zap your day look into a fun, colorful evening look. To do this, I took a large fluff brush and just added one of the new single eye shadows in the Ultra Violet shade softly into my crease.

Ultra Violet Shimmer Wash ($21.00; swatched)
Blue Bell Eye Shadow

The shadows are in the same classic Bobbi formula, easy to apply and easy to blend. I also loved the angled brush she includes in the eye palette; one end for shadow and the other for lining. And the finishing touch for the Neon and Nudes look is the Limited Edition Ink Liner in Really Black ($24.00). This product is for the eyeliner diehards out there who love a retro ink line. It is NOT waterproof. If you want a liner that is, and can be blended with the Cocoa Berry Shimmer Wash shadow, I recommend staying with the gel liner. I find it’s easier to apply, and it doesn’t budge. And it is a permanent part of the Bobbi Brown makeup line.

Next up are two gorgeous blush shades: Nude Pink and Nude Peach Blush ($23.00 each). Both of these shades give that gorgeous soft flush, as if you had spent the afternoon at a sunset garden party. Both are beautiful on their own, however, something I like to do is mix both shades to create a third. (FYI: In a Bobbi Brown foundation I am a shade 2.5) Simply gorgeous!

Last but not least are LIPS!! The three new lip glosses and lipsticks are a fun way to change up your look. If you are more conservative I would suggest trying one of the three new lip glosses ($23.00) that come in three shades: Cosmic Pink (swatched), Citrus and Ultra Violet — an easy way to take baby steps into neon colors. For the bolder gal, you can try one of three new lipsticks in Atomic Orange, Neon Pink, and Uber Beige ($23.00 each).

I adore Bobbi Brown and all of her makeup. This spring collection embodies the carefree days of my youth, but makes it wearable for the adult I am today.

Go out to your local Bobbi Brown makeup counter and recapture that youthful, fun spirit!!
