Cargo is one of my favorite higher end brands. I own quite a few things from their line and I think Cargo is one of the most underrated cosmetic lines! They have come out with two new eye contour eyeshadow palettes.
The Eye Contour Palettes, $28 each, come in two different shades. The Cargo website lists one as Lighter Bases and one as Warmer Bases (the back of the palettes say Palette 01 and Palette 02).
These eyeshadows were coordinated to utilize light, medium, and dark shades that work together to make your eyes appear more even, defined, and highlighted. Classic and dramatic looks are simple to achieve with directions for the lid, crease, and outer corner shades and placement. Warm and cool tones enhance the eyes and flatter every complexion. The velvety smooth formula applies effortlessly for easy blending.
Each palette contains 6 matte eyeshadows and 1 shimmer shadow base and are also paraben free.
These are the type of eyeshadows that don’t swatch too impressively but they really look gorgeous on the eyes. They aren’t overly pigmented to where it is easy to get carried away or go for a darker, more intense look than what you were wanting. I really think the quality of these shadows are exceptional. They blend very easily and provide a really nice, flawless look. I am not one who loves all matte eyeshadow looks. I would utilize these palettes by bringing in a shimmery shade for just the lid and the brow bone. But, if you love all matte eye looks, I think these might be great for you. If you love both mattes and shimmers, these palettes provide key colors that you ideally need in a matte version, such as for the crease.
The eyeshadows in these palettes are matte, with the exception of the Shimmer Bases in the palette. The Shimmer Bases appear to have a matte base with little tiny flecks of sparkle in them. They come off on the eye as more of a satin though. If you want the shimmer to really pop and stick, I would recommend adding a base before you use the shadows.
In the photographs, I used Palette 01. I used the Shimmer Base all over the lid, Warm Dark in the crease and a little bit on the outer, Warm Light above the crease to blend, and the Shimmer Base in the inner corner and under the brow bone. I then blended a little bit of Warm Light and Warm Dark on the lower lash line.
Overall, as always, I am impressed with these palettes. If you are on the market for a matte palette, I would recommend looking into these. They are truly fabulous quality!
