(Review, Before/After Photos) Six Apples A Day: MyChelle Dermaceuticals Skincare Line Helps Hyperpigmentation

They say less is more, but they also say “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.” When I received the opportunity to review a line I had never heard of — MyChelle Dermaceuticals — I was as skeptical as Kelsey Grammar in Frasier; my inner cynic kicks in whenever I get sent something that promises to be “natural” and “amazing.”

And not just one product — but six, all in beautiful recycled packaging! How do you interrupt your daily routine to make room for six products?

Since I’m a vegetarian and very choosy about what I put on my skin, I was appeased by the skincare line’s claim to use the safest, most nontoxic ingredients available. Hence the sulfate-free cleanser, lactic and azelaic acids, mulberry bark extract and apple stem cells. That’s not to say the products don’t contain compounds: you’ll find breakthrough Peptide Melanostatine 5 to help with the hyperpigmentation of the skin.

And truly, that’s what this skincare line is all about — clarity and reduction of dark spots for a more even skin tone. Over the years, my scars have lightened and have healed somewhat, but few products have really done the job. So, this was a further reason for me to try MyChelle.

Last year, my skin broke out like crazy because I discovered I was allergic to Vitamin A (at least, in hefty doses), so I’ve been really shy to try any new skincare products. I’ve always gone towards the more natural products and regimens since then, because my skin responds better to fruit acids than it does to synthetics.

The line is available at Whole Foods and my suggestion to you is to try each and every product below because they really do work harmoniously together. After trying the products for a week, my skin has become much clearer, my spots have diminished and it feels hydrated (thank you, Pumpkin Renew Cream).

All the products are easy to use because they are numbered appropriately:

Step 1: Apple Brightening Cleanser

MyChelle Apple Brightening Cleanser

I loved the texture of the cleanser: it is extremely mild and also sulfate-free. This cleanser exfoliates and brightens skin and also helps with hyperpigmentation with natural apple fruit acids. $25.89.

Step 2: Apple Brightening Peel

MyChelle Apple Brightening Peel

The second step in this six -part regimen contains lactic and azelaic acids for a youthful tone, texture and firmness. This is really a mild peel, and I experienced little tingling or sensitivity (you may want to do a patch test first). $31.79.

Step 3: Apple Brightening Serum

MyChelle Apple Brightening Serum

This serum aims to reduce discoloration and sun-damage (photo aging). It contains Apple Stem Cells to help the skin’s natural regenerative process and aims to reduce the appearance of lines in just four weeks. After having used this serum for about three weeks my skin has experienced a significant difference in texture and clarity as well. $44.29.

Step 4: Apple Brightening Mist

The application of the mist AFTER applying the serum may seem counter intuitive, but this mist is really a toner containing daisy extract and natural apple fruit acids for brightening. I love the refreshing nature of this mist as well. $32.59.

Step 5: Pumpkin Renew Cream

Probably my most favorite product in the collection is one that contains pumpkin. The Renew Cream really nourishes and hydrates with Pumpkin Seed Oil with reparative Peptides. It also stimulates collagen production. It contains organic shea butter and Tocomin Vitamin E to help replenish the skin’s lipid barrier — and truly, the difference in hydration is astounding. $31.79.

Step 6: Sun Shield SPF 28 Unscented

Obviously, what would a skin care line be without sun protection? This is a non greasy lightweight sun shield that has zero fragrance — a huge plus! It is formulated with ZinClear and Titanium Dioxide.

If you’re curious about MyChelle but don’t want to plunk down the price for each individual product, give the “Collections” a try first. All the products are sold at Whole Foods. So, what are your thoughts? Are you intrigued? Do you think this is the line for you?
