Have you tried an overnight face mask yet? You know, the ones you apply and fall asleep with it on? Face masks help draw impurities out of the skin, exfoliate dead skin cells, unclog pores and improve the overall health of your skin, making it look younger and more radiant. Why not try one (or two) this weekend. Our editor Yona gave 2 masks a thorough test run and can’t seem to choose her favorite. Read on to see if overnight masks are your new sleeping aid.
All Clark’s Botanicals products feature jasmine absolute, a precious essential oil that is said to “naturally rebalance skin.” Derived from nocturnally blooming flowers, this extract is also antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and immuno-stimulating. It works to calm and heal a broad spectrum of skin types, from young to mature, oily to dry and normal to sensitive. Unlike many products that are specially formulated for a particular skin type, this product can be used with success by virtually anyone.
Peter Thomas Roth Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Cleansing Gel, Mask – Rose Stem Cell For Anti-Aging Effect
The Deep Moisture Mask is said to “revitalize environmentally stressed, dry complexions. With each use, skin is infused with hydration and begins to glow. Over time, the fine lines and creases become less visible.” It’s recommended for dry, aging and stressed skin, formulated without parabens, gluten, or sulfates — and there is no animal testing.
The product can be used 2 ways and I tried them both. First, I smoothed it over my face, left it on for 5-10 minutes and then rinsed it off. The second time I left it on overnight. On both occasions the results were excellent. The mask is white, light and fluffy with a delicate, pleasing fragrance.
There was a slight tingling sensation when I first applied it, which subsided quite quickly. When I used it for 5-10 minutes and then washed, my skin felt invigorated and fresh. And when I left it on overnight, I awoke to skin that was particularly soft and smooth, with no oily feel since the mask had absorbed so well. I did not notice any effect on fine lines (but then I almost never do), though perhaps with more time, I might see an effect. Overall, a solid, hardworking product that has a dual application.
The precisely balanced diet of omegas, minerals, probiotics and antioxidants found in NUDE Skincare is rooted in high-performance nutrition. This was an interesting concept and I was curious to see how the NUDE Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask would perform. It is said to, “nourish and soothe stressed skin with vitamin-rich fig and softening honey extract. Cupuaçu butter delivers essential omegas 6 & 9 that hydrate and protect, while peptides smooth out wrinkles and form a moisture barrier.” Additional ingredients include shea butter, beeswax, sunflower seed oil, nut extract and rosemary. The promise? Revitalized skin!
I used this mask as directed for 2 weeks. Unlike some clay-based products, this one is massaged into skin and not washed off. If the Clark’s felt like whipped cream or mousse being applied, this one felt like butter: rich and dense. And I must say the results were fantastic! My skin drank up the mask and felt so soft and fresh in the morning. I did not notice any effect on wrinkles, but I love the smooth, dewy feeling of my skin post-mask, and will be using this product for a long time to come.
