The colder temperatures and harsh winds outside, dry, artificial heat inside and a general lack of moisture in the air quickly dehydrate the skin during the colder months. This isn’t just an East Coast problem — those living through the West Coast’s heat and drought are certainly suffering from dehydrated skin and general dehydration as well!
Dehydration is an overall health issue, but let’s face it: it’s also a vanity issue. Dehydration leads to unhealthy skin, and the early appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. And, unfortunately, many still think of dehydration as a hot-weather, sun-exposure problem, when they should be addressing hydration year-round. So, to shed light on the topic, Kiehl’s has teamed up with Fiji to celebrate February 20th as Hydration Day, to educate its customers about the effects of hydration and dehydration on the skin.
This month, Kiehl’s has launched their newest addition to the Ultra Facial range called Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration, which was ALSO “torture-tested” under extreme conditions. It was tested 1) In the arid climates of Phoenix, and 2) On a group of avid swimmers, daily exposed to damaging chlorine.
The clinical tests proved that Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration provides a full 24-hour hydration. And even with all that hydration, the formula also happens to be Kiehl’s most lightweight cream to date. It is incredibly light in texture and you’ll have a hard time not wanting to slab on some more. But don’t! A little bit is all you need; it sinks into skin instantly, leaving behind no greasy residue.
Unlike heavy creams on the market to treat dry skin types, Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration does not use traditional thickeners, such as waxes or butters that can feel heavy on the skin. Instead, it imparts a lightweight foundation including enriched hyaluronic acid, co-encapsulating 2 complementing hydrating molecules:
Hyaluronic Acid — This ingredient can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water and is a highly effective humectant that draws moisture to keep skin hydrated.
Biomimetic Hydrator — Helps seal in moisture and is known to be used in the medical world to keep lenses hydrated, even at low humidity conditions.
Apricot Kernal Oil — An ingredient that is highly compatible with the skin, it is a refined fruit oil that contains omegas 2, 6, and 9, as well as essential fatty acids. It helps condition the skin and reduce visible dryness and flakiness.
To add even more hydration at night, Kiehl’s has also launched a generously-sized tub of the NEW Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque. The overnight mask helps to instantly boost skin’s ability to absorb and hold moisture for long-lasting hydration. Glacial proteins and desert plant leaves skin smoother and softer, refreshed and supple by morning. It is ideal for all skin types and is silicone-, paraben-, fragrance- and colorant-free!
To use at night: Cleanse and tone your face with the cleanser and toner of your choice, then apply your eye area treatment if desired. Apply a generous layer of the masque onto clean skin and leave on for 10 minutes. Use a tissue or towel to remove excess but leave a thin layer intact to continuously replenish skin’s moisture throughout the night.
So, in honor of Hydration Day, on Feb. 20, Kiehl’s will offer its shoppers in Kiehl’s retail stores complimentary hydrating facials and Fiji water with no purchase necessary!
