The philosophy skin labs have focused on creating an innovative NEW! formula for a lightweight, whipped moisturizer that works on multiple layers of skin for constant renewal. According to philosophy, the latest Hope In A Jar formula addresses three of the most demanding skin wishes.

The first of these wishes is for refined texture with visibly smaller pores and fine lines that are virtually lifted away. Through the use of a triple blend of alpha-hydroxy acids (glycolic, citric and mandelic) philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar gently exfoliates the skin’s surface. These ingredients are chosen because of their different molecular weights. Each of the three AHAs are different sizes to allow for different rates of penetration, ensuring continuous performance on multiple layers: glycolic is smallest and penetrates the furthest; citric and mandelic are larger and work on the skin’s upper layers to improve fine lines and pore visibility.
Next, the company promises soft, dewy smoothness with all-day hydration. Using three forms of hyaluronate, each with a unique action and destination, philosophy’s Renewed moisturizer is said to provide instant lock-in-all-day hydration. Hyaluronic acid filling spheres attract and lock in water for immediate hydration; hyaluronic acid-blend enhances delivery to the epidermis and helps resist degradation over time; blue agave extract stimulates skin’s natural production of hyaluronic acid.

Finally, the product is said to provide re-energized color and glow. To achieve this effect, Asian fruit extract increases micro-circulation and brings natural, healthy color to skin; prickly pear flower extract stimulates skin enzymes to enhance natural luminosity and micro-optics help diffuse light at the surface, providing a soft-focus effect.
I used this product morning and evening for about 2 weeks. It is a light, fluffy cream (as opposed to a thick, buttery one) and I found it a bit sticky when applied. But, it absorbed nicely and did indeed leave my skin feeling very soft and supple the next day. It also enhanced my skintone and reduced pore size, but it did not seem to make any difference in the fine lines department (but I’ll have to use the cream much longer to see results). Also available in the New Year will be the Renewed Hope In A Jar Dry, Renewed Hope In A Jar with SPF 30 and Eye Cream available on philosophy.com and in all philosophy retailers.
All in all, it’s a good, solid product with some fine skin-renewing qualities.
