Exclusively from Asia, Lancôme introduces the new Génifique Youth Activating Second Skin Mask ($80.00). According to the manufacturers, it takes only a single application to “see more radiant, luminous and smoother skin.”

Each mask contains the same amount of product, as half of a 1 oz. bottle of Génifique Concentrate. Combining Lancôme‘s patented Génifique complex and expertise in bio-cellulose technology, Lancôme claims this mask “treats your skin to a new kind of indulgence.”

Because the pre-cut mask adheres to the contours of your face, it provides a “harmonious and intense infusion of ingredients.” The recommended usage for this product is twice a week, on a cleansed face, before your usual beauty routine. After one application, Lancôme promises skin will look “as if lit from within. Cushiony soft and smooth.”

After three weeks, they claim you will experience “visibly more radiant, refined and re-plumped skin.” I was only given a single mask to sample, so I can only report on a single usage. The mask was easy-to-apply; the pre-cut template (it looked a bit like a ghost mask for Halloween!) was simple to attach right to my face, and it stayed on easily for the requisite 20-minutes.

When I peeled it off, it left a colorless but rich serum-like residue on my skin, which I rubbed in. Afterwards, my skin looked great: texture noticeably improved and smoother. This one’s pricey, but worth it! And since you get results after a single application, I would recommend using it once a month or so — which ought not to break the bank.

  1. This seems super neat, I’d love to give it a try. I will be looking into these, thanks for the great post!

These masks have been around for a long time. While very popular in Japan, they’ve trended in and out here in the U.S. If $80 is the price of a single application, and Lancome suggests using it two times a week, I imagine only a select group of skincare explorers will try it, and even fewer will use it that frequently. It will be interesting to see whether it succeeds in the market. Personally, I’ll pass until and unless I see spectacular results on someone I know.

  3. I love sheet masks! Glad to see it is starting to catch one ^^ And yes, I really enjoy looking frightening :p spooking my sweet heart never seems to get old!

  4. By the way @nanci alderman, the 80 dollars is for 6 sheet masks. Still not cheap, but enough to do an intensive ‘pick-me-up’ skincare routine for special occasions (I always like to give myself an extra treat twice a year). And usually these sheet masks contain enough product to also pamper your neck and bust in one go ^^
