Summer Skincare For Your Baby: How To Protect Infant Skin With AVEENO® Baby Products #Sponsored

It’s time for some summer fun for you AND your little one! So, while you’re caring for your skin with sunscreen, cleansers and lotions, make sure to consider a brand that puts your baby’s sensitive skin first, like AVEENO® Baby.

Recommended by pediatricians and trusted by parents like you, AVEENO® Baby products are specifically formulated to be gentle yet effective on baby’s sensitive skin. Formulated with ACTIVE NATURALS® Oat, AVEENO® Baby products soothe, replenish and restore the barrier function of baby’s delicate skin. To learn more about the proper ways of protecting your baby’s skin during the summer, AVEENO® Baby asked dermatologist, and mom, Dr. Jeanine Downie to share her best tips to care for baby’s skin this summer.

Hydration Is Key

Although it’s hot outside, infant skin is still prone to dehydration during the summer months. Make sure to continue using a hydrating cleanser and wash that moisturize baby’s skin with soothing and hydrating ingredients. Dr. Downie suggests using AVEENO® Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash, formulated with ACTIVE NATURALS® Oat and rich emollients to gently cleanse and soothe skin. And, for year-round moisturization, try AVEENO® Baby Daily Moisture Lotion — the non-greasy formula hydrates baby’s skin for 24-hours with no drying alcohols or pore-clogging ingredients.

The Right Age To Use SPF

You can start using sunscreen after 6 months of age, along with some protective clothing to better shield your infant from the sun’s harmful UVA/UVB rays. “I recommend complete sun avoidance for the first six months, including the use of UPF hats, umbrellas and protective clothing,” says Dr. Downie.

What Ingredients To Look For In Infant Skincare

As with finding the right sunscreen for an adult, Dr. Downie advises selecting a sunscreen with Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection of SPF 30 or higher for your infant. Look for formulas that are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, pediatrician and dermatologist recommended and contain soothing ingredients to help moisturize and prevent irritation. Mineral sunscreens are a great option, as they contain ingredients such as Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, which form a protective barrier on top of the skin that scatters UVA/UVB rays. Try AVEENO® Baby Natural Protection Lotion Sunscreen with Broad Spectrum SPF 50, which is formulated 100% naturally sourced sunscreen ingredients, a more natural alternative for your little one.
