1. Tan MomShe Looks A Bit Pale, Don’t You Think?

BeautyStat made a new best friend with Patricia Krentcil, also known as “Tan Mom.” The New Jersey tanning addict was brought to the world’s attention when she was accused of taking her six-year-old daughter to the tanning salon. Not to mention that Patricia herself looked a little overdone. Wouldn’t you say?

2. Bagel Head Who You Calling a Bagel Head? Oh, It’s Me!

Saline injection to the forehead was a far cry from weird, but downright unthinkable. The “new botox” was a Japanese craze that was more of a body modification statement, but, nonetheless, a beauty trend in our eyes. The saline was injected into the forehead until a round saline bubble formed, which was then pushed in to resemble a bagel of all things.

3. Fish PedicureLet The Fish Do All The Work

The fish pedicure had us second-guessing our pumice stone… well, at least for a little while. The doctor fish (also known as garra rufa) swim in a basin of water; as you dip your feet, they eat away at your dead skin. BeautyStat researched the downsides to this beauty trend, finding out that the beauty treatment could be a potential health risk — the fish were tested and found carrying and spreading diseases to its clientele. Although undoubtedly trendy, we’ll just stick to our pumice stones, thank you!

4. Slapping FacialSlap The Wrinkles Right Off

Slap out of it! Forget the regular cucumber-eyes facial! For $350, Tata of Tata Massage will slap the wrinkles right off of your face, literally! The slapping technique is meant to circulate the blood flow in the face, smoothing out wrinkles and making you appear younger. This facial is meant for all skin types, which might make a great holiday gift to give someone this year. Hmm?

5. Puffy EyesKorea Makes Under Eye Bags Hot

The last weird beauty trend for 2012 was the Korean trend of puffy, baggy under eyes. Apparently, Korean actresses (and their female fans) can’t get enough of this trend — saying that the look makes them appear happy and cute, as if they are constantly smiling. Even Michelle Phan embraced the trend when visiting Asia! All she had to do was not wear concealer. It’s cool to look tired.

We hope you all enjoyed the weird beauty trends BeautyStat covered in 2012. We look forward to next year for all the ‘oh-my-gosh,’ ‘is-that-for-real?’ moments in beauty. Until then, keep looking gorgeous!
