Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Makeup SPF 55

Okay, I confess to being really excited about this one! The new Healthy Skin Compact Makeup ($12.99) is a foundation with an SPF of 55! True, it does not have a moisturizer but hey, a girl can’t have everything. According to Neutrogena, the “silky, lightweight formula gives you buildable coverage and provides the most powerful level of UVA-UVB protection available in a foundation without feeling heavy or greasy.” It also contains Helioplex broad spectrum UVA-UVB SPF 55 protection and it’s non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores (in this heat, your skin will appreciate that).

I used the product over a lightweight moisturizer, without sunscreen. It went on like magic, and gave me a flawless, natural look while protecting my skin from the sun’s damaging rays. Over it, I used my regular blush and powder. Forget the sticky, pasty white sunscreen that would take ten minutes to blend in and make your eyes water when it did. With this, you don’t even know you’re wearing sunscreen. This is one of the best foundations ever — can’t beat the coverage, the finish and the cost. A new fave has been found. Hurray!

I am always on the lookout for a good concealer — under eye circles and puffiness are my nemesis. So, when I was asked to road test the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Brightening Eye Perfector ($11.99), I was ready. Neutrogena states this as a “do-it-all product that not only brightens and conceals with a patented blend of anti-oxidants including Vitamin E, wild chamomile and soy, but is also clinically shown to de-puff and treat the appearance of dark under eye circles.” It also contains a broad-spectrum UVA-UVB SPF 25, another plus, and it is gentle enough for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

I applied it over my regular eye cream and I immediately liked the flow of the product through the brush, which lets you apply it without pulling or tugging; we all know that delicate under eye area does not need any more abuse! Coverage was excellent; dark circles gone, puffiness disguised! I looked refreshed and ready to romp. This product compares very favorably with YSL’s fabulous Touche Éclat ($40.00), but it’s a super bargain. I am stocking up: I want one for my purse, one to leave at home and one for my travel bag.
