The Garment Saver is a disposable makeup and hair guard that satisfies your desire to feel like a professional makeup artist (and look like a horror movie villain at the same time). This little gadget is essentially a lightweight fabric bag that you pop over your head before getting dressed, preventing makeup stains on your clothing. It’s also meant to keep a fresh makeup application from smearing.
Seems like a simple concept, but I stared at the packaging for a solid 5-minutes before realizing I was literally just supposed to put a fabric bag over my head and then get dressed. And then it took another minute to pretend I was getting into a mafioso’s car and bag myself.

This product is recommended for stylists, backstage fashion assistants, performers and wedding consultants. It would be most useful in situations where you’re wearing a lot of makeup and a formal outfit, like a prom or wedding fitting. When I tested this product, I found one small problem: the Garment Saver is made of lightweight mesh, so you don’t suffocate during use, but this fabric easily catches on stray bobby pins and earrings… and hangnails… and rings.
Is that Mandie or the Governor’s daughter?
Assuming that most people pair their heaviest makeup and gowns with an updo and fine jewelry, users will have to pay close attention to avoid yanking out bobby pins and clips. You’re meant to finish your full hair and makeup look in your fancy skivvies, then slip on the Garment Saver so you can manage quick changes without a makeup mess.

I personally am not that coordinated, and my first attempt to use the Garment Saver ended in several 8A.M. f-bombs as I untangled it from my hair.
Overall, the Garment Saver is a handy product for a specific group of people: shop owners who are sick of dealing with foundation stains on their formal wear. For home use, I suggest using the buddy system unless you’re wearing your hair loose.
So, would any of you beauties use the Garment Saver?
