No one actually admits to loving lip liner. Lip liner is what we grudgingly draw on to hold our much sexier red lipstick in place. It’s what your kooky great aunt uses while she laughs at your mint-flavored millennial balm stain. And like everything else from the nineties, it’s poised to make a major comeback, thanks to Kylie Jenner and her slightly overdrawn rosy-nude lip.

The whole point of a lip liner is to define and shape your lips with pigment that’s waxier (meaning longer-wearing and feather-resistant) than lipstick or gloss. The problem is that they never live up to that perfect, factory-sharp point. Who can be bothered to sharpen a pencil? I dream of being rich enough to just buy a new brow and lip pencil for every application and toss them to the peasants when the point starts to dull.

Someone just one-upped the guy that put a sharpener in the back of the 64 count Crayola box. I have not been this excited about a product innovation since L’Oreal Kids put tangerine shampoo and conditioner in the same fish-shaped bottle. I’M EXCITED ABOUT LIP LINER, is what I’m saying.
