Although these playful sets launched in May at Sephora and online at Sephora.com, they are also rolling out at Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Henri Bendel, Lord & Taylor, Kitson, Von Maur and Hudson’s Bay starting this month (these stores get the Very Colourfoil Manicure Limited Edition sets) and through August, when these stores get the Chalkboard Manicure set!
Ciaté brought us the coveted Caviar Manicure ($25.00), Sequined Manicure Kit ($13.00) and Velvet Manicure ($19.00) born from the creative mind of an editorial nail technician turned entrepreneur, Charlotte Knight.
The British brand has become a modern success story with the iconic Ciaté Caviar Manicure selling over 12,000 sets during their opening weekend launch in April 2012. An internet sensation, the unique application has achieved 400,000 hits on Google as well as over 1,000,000 view on YouTube.
Ciaté Chalkboard Manicure ($25.00) was so much fun to play with! I was able to treat my nails like a chalkboard, as the kit really took me back to my younger years. We also have a similar idea in my daughters room where we painted her wall with chalkboard paint, so it was fun to apply a similar concept to my nails (and of course I did hers, too).
Easy instructions made for a quick application, and as soon as all of my nails were dry after the two coats of the Ciaté Chalkboard Paint Pot, I was ready to move full steam ahead with the chalk pens.
The design possibilities reach as far as your imagination can take you. The instruction booklet gives you design ideas too if you are feeling like you are in need of some inspiration. All I can say is that we both had fun, and my daughter and I bonded during this time which I think is always a plus! Ciaté Chalkboard Manicure is available now through July at Sephora and Sephora.com.
Ciaté Very Colourfoil Manicure ($19.00) was also a blast to use, as my nails transformed into what looked like a Jackson Pollack painting! Very modern and inspired by the urban street artists of London, these kits (Carnival Queen (sampled/pictured), Wonderland and Kaleidoscope Klash) are limited-edition sets that bring out the modern designer in you.
Much like the Chalkboard Manicure, no two nails are alike as you use nail polish and colored foils to create an edgy and bold look. It’s color-blocking with a clash! I loved the different colored foils — some were shiny, others iridescent and of course the metallics were in there, too!
Once finished, I couldn’t stop staring at my nails, as thy looked like mini MoMA paintings. Each foil line-up offers a unique palette from holographic to rainbow-mirrored foils. It’s wonderful to see such innovative ways to express one’s creativity via your nails!
