It’s that exciting time of year when the best in beauty gather for the CEW Beauty Insider Awards. For us beauty geeks, it’s like the Oscars of the beauty industry. Brands are featured in categories including Skincare, Scents, Makeup and more. CEW hosts the beauty industry’s biggest celebration of product innovation, recognizing the year’s best new beauty products. The 23rd annual CEW Beauty Insider Awards, in partnership with Meredith Corporation, honored the most innovative new products across 40 categories.
The CEW Beauty Insider Awards continue to be the only awards voted on by industry insiders who know beauty best. CEW’s 6,000+ U.S. members selected 230 finalists from more than 900 entries, representing 500 different brands. Winners were then chosen from the finalists by CEW’s Board of Governors and a select group of beauty industry experts. The prestigious Beauty Insider Awards are the industry’s highest recognition for brands and manufacturers.
“It’s challenging for consumers to choose among the thousands of new beauty products and brands launching each year,” says Carlotta Jacobson, President of CEW. “The winners of the CEW Beauty Insider Awards are selected by industry experts, giving consumers a ‘seal of approval’ they can trust for making purchase decisions.”
For the second year, CEW partnered with Meredith Corporation on the Iconic Consumers’ Choice Beauty Award, inviting consumers to vote for their favorite mass and prestige iconic beauty products on BeautyBash.me. The winner of the Iconic Consumers’ Choice Beauty Award Mass is Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 15 Fragrance-free and the winner of the Iconic Consumers’ Choice Beauty Award Prestige is Clinique Clarifying Lotion. The awards were presented at the Beauty Awards Luncheon by two-time Tony Award winning actress Christine Ebersole, who plays the iconic Elizabeth Arden in Broadway’s War Paint.
“Meredith is thrilled to once again partner with CEW on the Beauty Awards, and to put the power to choose the Iconic Award winners into the hands of the 110 million women we reach,” said Nancy Weber, EVP & CMO, Meredith Corporation. “We know looking good matters significantly to our audience. As a matter of fact, Meredith consumers spend $12 billion annually on beauty products. That represents nearly three quarters of all beauty category sales.”
CEW also continues to reach consumers through its partnerships. This summer, GLOSSYBOX will launch a limited-edition Beauty Awards collection box featuring finalist and winning products from both mass and prestige categories, reaching GLOSSYBOX’s community of 1.6 million beauty consumers. QVC will also be featuring select finalist and winning products, along with the QVC Beauty Quest Winner, Hey Honey, live on air during a CEW Beauty Awards Show on July 20, enabling emerging brands to be spotlighted to millions on a successful retailer platform.
Indie Beauty Awards
Over 700 CEW members are from independent beauty brands and CEW has been supporting these emerging brands with its Indie Brand Beauty Award for over a decade. This year, furthering its commitment to indie brands, CEW added three new Indie award categories – Indie Fragrance, Indie Makeup and Indie Skincare – all of which were presented by Financo.
Winners of these awards are: Charlotte Tilbury Beauty for Indie Brand; Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Scent of a Dream for Indie Fragrance; Milk Makeup Holographic Stick for Indie Makeup; and Farmacy Beauty Honey Potion for Indie Skincare. In addition to receiving this distinguished accomplishment, Charlotte Tilbury Beauty will also receive a complimentary booth from Cosmoprof North America at its annual show in Las Vegas, being held July 9-11. The booth, valued at $8,000, includes marketing, a fully furnished lounge space and guaranteed meetings with the retail buyers attending the event.
New This Year
CEW launched the Makeup Tools category, presented by Anisa International, to recognize innovative tools that aide/enhance the application for makeup products for the face. The winner of this new category is IT Cosmetics® Heavenly Skin™ CC+ Skin-perfecting Brush #702.
Additionally, CEW announces the Sustainability Excellence award, presented by Firmenich, which replaces the former Eco Beauty Award. The award was established to encourage taking steps toward sustainability in the beauty industry. The winner of this award is Teadora.
