Olay’s new Total Effects Featherweight Moisturizer SPF 15, $19.99, is a super lightweight formula providing seven benefits for healthy-looking skin.
1. Visibly smoothes fine lines and prevents wrinkles
2. Evens skin tone appearance
3. Enhances brightness
4. Minimizes the look of pores
5. Visibly reduces dark patches
6. Restores firmness
7. Replenishes moisture
The product contains a host of skin enhancing and sun-protecting ingredients, including VitaNiacin Complex, with Vitamins E and B3, which exfoliates to enhance skin’s natural self-renewal process as well as broad spectrum SPF 15:
- Avobenzone: for UVA/UVB protection
- Octocrylene: Photostabilizer for UVA/UVB protection
- Octisalate: for UVB protection
- Homosalate: for UVB protection
I am all about sun protection all year long, so I was very eager to try this product. I tried both the regular and fragrance free versions, which I used for several days under foundation and blush. True to its name, the product is indeed featherweight; it went on easily and absorbed quickly. As for the seven claims, I found some, though not all, to be true. It did even out my skin tone, enhance brightness, minimize the look of pores, and hydrate my skin. But I did not see any significant difference in terms of fine lines, wrinkles, dark patches or firmness. I do wish it had contained SPF 30 as well, the general recommendation for adequate sun protection. Although signs of all benefits would have been ideal, overall I liked the product—and the price—very much.
