Now that NYFW SS’15 has wrapped up, we’re going through some of our fave makeup looks. And even though we might have to wait until next spring to try out some of these seasonal trends, we found 3 that we can start rocking right now! From bright vermillion lips, statement-making turquoise brows to pretty girl makeup, let’s take a look into our makeup bags and see what we got to re-create some of these timeless and trendy looks!
NYFW Spring, Summer 2015 Best Makeup Trends, Swatches: Bold Accented Color, Luminous Skin, Graphic Black Eyes, Flushed Cheeks – Review
Sarah Lucero, Stila Cosmetics’ Global Director of Creative Artistry, for Alice + Olivia S/S’15 (above) created a princess of Versailles look by focusing on dreamy eyes. Eyes Are The Window Shadow Palette in Body and Miles High Lashes Mascara defined this eye look.
butter LONDON’s Katie Jane Hughes created luminous skin and an outer corner cat-eye look for the Rachel Zoe SS’15 Collection. CHEEKY Cream Blush in Honey Pie was gently applied using the heels of the palm on cheekbones. Use butter LONDON WINK Eye Pencil in Union Jack Black to create a wing on the outer edge of the eye for an elongated feline shape. Smudge the liner to create a softer flick, then build color back onto the outer edge of the wing only.
Petal pink hues and soft, illuminated skin led to an unexpected sheen at the Rebecca Minkoff SS’15 show. Stila Stay All Day Foundation and Concealer, along with All Over Shimmer Powder in Kitten gave way for a romantic glow.
Naeem Khan’s inspiration this season was actress Lauren Bacall. James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry, liked the idea of this classic, old Hollywood Naeem girl but a bit more ‘undone’. Fresh skin and glossy eyes were on the menu. For the eyes, Cappadoce Matte Multiple, Zen Blush, Mambo Eyeliner (for darker skintones), Coconut Grove Matte Eyeshadow, Bengali Matte Eyeshadow (darker skintones), Larger Than Life® Volumizing Mascara and Triple X Lip Gloss (on eyelids) were used for a coppery wash.
When are red lips NOT in? We’d like to know. At Zac Posen, MAC Cosmetics Cherry Lip Pencil was applied to define the lip, while Pro Red Lipmix was blended in a precise shape for some bold lip-driven perfection.
Carolina Herrera was all about sophisticated glamour. Diane Kendal for MAC Cosmetics applied a mixture of Brave Red, Diva-ish (not yet available), Girl About Town, MAC Red and Make Me Gorgeous Lipsticks over the lips.
Sarah Lucero for Stila Cosmetics played on the yin and yang aspects seen throughout Clover Canyon’s Spring/Summer 2015 Collection by drawing on a bright vermillion shade, Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Tesoro to be exact.
Need to make a statement without shaving your head? We’ll stick to makeup for a quick, dramatic fix. The quirky lashes created at Altuzarra by Tom Pecheux for MAC Cosmetics was inspired by the film, Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. Keep lashes well-curled with a swipe of Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara layered over false lashes for a creepy, doll-like effect.
At Badgley Mischka, it was all about taking inspiration from a “young park avenue girl who is going to the East Village and wants to annoy her parents…” Edgy turquoise eyebrows will most certainly do that! MAC Pro Paint Sticks and Blue Forecast from MAC Trend Forecast Spring 2015 Lip and Cheek was custom mixed and applied as a creamy base through the brow and then layered with variations of blue, pink and lavender shades of MAC Eye Shadows to set.
It’s never a dull makeup moment at The Blonds show. Kabuki for MAC Cosmetics created a menagerie of concepts with an Arabian Nights meets Gangster Genies showing. A regular black cat-eye was layered with gold; Myth and Shy Girl Lipsticks were combined for a nude gradient lip effect.
