Award show season is officially underway! Celebrities graced the red carpet yesterday at the 72nd annual Golden Globes in gorgeous gowns, stunning shoes, and beautiful baubles! And while the fashion picks always pique our collective curiosity, it’s the best-tressed stars that have the BeautyStat team talking—and swooning, and raving, and planning our next trip to the salon! From intricate braids to elegant updos to sexy beach waves, these haute hairstyles wowed the crowd and made an impression.
Stylist DJ Quintero wanted to create a modern, clean look to complement Katie Holmes’ strapless, eggplant-colored Marchesa gown. Holmes wasn’t wearing any jewelry, so Quintero created a deep-parted, low pony-tail to compliment her striking features and elegant, bare neckline. Here’s how you can recreate the look:
Step 1: On damp hair, mix a small amount of Alterna Haircare Caviar Seasilk Oil Gel with Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Omega (+) Nourishing Oil, and brush through.
Step 2: Using a large round brush, blow dry hair on high-heat and part it far to the left.

When L’Oreal stylist Lorenzo Martin saw Jennifer Lopez‘s Zuhair Murad 1960’s inspired dress he immediately thought of Sharon Tate, who became his inspiration for the look. Here’s how you can recreate the look:

Emma Stone wore a custom Lanvin jumpsuit that was modern with classic elegant ease. This completely unexpected look was one of L’Oreal stylist Mara Roszak‘s all-time favorites and inspired the modern, naturally tousled but not overdone hair look that ensued. Here’s how you can recreate the look:
Step 1: To prep, apply L’Oréal Paris EverStyle Texture Series Tousle Crème to hair for texture.
Step 2: Rough dry the hair until almost dry and then spritz L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Txt it Tousle Waves Spray and continue to rough dry completely.
Step 3: With a medium sized round brush, smooth out the front pieces for a more polished look.

ghd Brand Ambassador David Babaii‘s inspiration for Gwyneth Paltrow‘s Golden Globes hairstyle? That would be “70’s Playboy Bunny“, of course. Paltrow is known for her iconic straight hair, but Babaii aimed to mix it up and have a little fun with sexy waves. Here’s how you can recreate the look:
Step 1: Blow dry hair using a ghd air hairdryer and a round brush.
Step 2: Create an off-center part and divide into three sections: two in the front and one in the back.
Step 3: Starting at the back and working forward, take different sized sections and curl hair using the ghd curve soft curl iron. The 1.25” barrel creates voluminous, soft polished waves. Step 3: For the top sections, don’t curl the hair all the way to the root, only the bottom half of the shaft. This prevents “Shirley Temple tendrils”. Finish the look by pulling front sections of hair behind the ear.
