And I have set up camp in front of my television for the second award show of “Award Season,” the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG). The SAG Awards are a time for celebs to let their hair down, literally considering the women exhibited both sleek straight hair and tousled curls. To say it is casual would be an understatement but the starlets were having fun with their looks.
Best of Beauty
Mila Kunis: With slightly off-center hair parting and loose ringlets falling over her shoulders, Mila Kunis walked the red carpet as though she owned it, in her strapless Alexander McQueen gown. A few highlights here and there did the magic on her hair. Her eyes were positively smoldering, rimmed in a navy eye shadow, concentrating on the lower lash line. A matte pink neutralized her natural lip color.
Natalie Portman: Resembled a starlet from the 1930s, with the left side of her hair curled back and the rest of tresses slicked back into what looked like perfectly engineered pin curls. Makeup artist Eileen Kastner-Delago for Dior used the Dior Capture Totale High Definition Serum Foundation and Dior Skinflash in Sunbeam #003 for her face. To get her warm brown tones on her eyes, Kastner-Delago used Dior 5-Colour Eyeshadow in Stylish Move #970 and Sunset Cafe #440. To complete the look on her lips, she used Dior Addict High Shine Lipstick in Pink Protegee #664 and Dior Ultra-Gloss Reflect in Satin Peach #236.
Lea Michele: Glee star Lea Michele looked like a breezy version of Bianca Jagger with her loose, wavy hair, perfectly-arched eyebrows and flawless skin. Celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis took a page from the ’70s and the focus was on her smoky, purple-berry eyes. To get this look, Inglessis used Lancome’s Teint Miracle Lit-from-Within makeup, the Color Design 5 Pan Palette in Mauve Cherie, Le Stylo Waterproof EyeLiner Pen in Prune, and Hypnose Mascara in Black. On her lips, Lea is wearing Lancome’s Color Design Lipcolor in Pale Lip.
January Jones: Willing to take a chance January Jones opted for a sculpted hair masterpiece while sheathed in a lace-patterned Caroline Herrera dress. A waterfall of platinum strands fall to the right of her face and the rest of her hair is pinned back to guarantee a sturdy foundation. To get the hair, Fekkai stylist Renato Campora used the Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Styling Whip to create volume, and Fekkai Coiff™ Contrôle Ironless Straightening Balm to smooth the hair out. Then, he used a curling iron to set the hair with pins, and took them out to brush and style it. To finish the look, Campora used the Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray for all night perfection. Voila! Not a strand out of place.
Her eyes also intensify from her inner to her outer lids, gold to brown to a black. She paired her exquisitely dressed eyes with a colorless lip.
Claire Danes: Not only to Claire Danes win a SAG award, but she also wins for Best Beauty. She may have taken tips from January Jones’ Golden Globes Awards appearance. Sometimes less is more and Claire Danes is a girl after my own heart. Her hair was straight but was not lacking volume. Her bangs swept to left and framed her face. Lavender colors intensify her green eyes. Her pout is drawn in with a bright, almost-fuschia pink.
Worst of Beauty
Jenna Ushkowitz:Jenna’s up-do looked as if she was coming from a wedding where she participated as a bridesmaid. It was hard to decide what pieces were supposed to be held into place considering most were falling out. The silver looking eye shadow applied she lids conflicted with her bold red lips. There was no happy balance.
Nicole Kidman: A beautiful woman, but lately she seems to be missing the beauty mark. We hated to put Nicole in our “Worst of Golden Globes” category recently, and we’re a tad bit hesitant to do so again for the SAG Awards. She chose to wear her hair up for the SAG awards, but it looked disheveled constantly falling into her face. A bit “unfinished” for Ms. Gothic Lolita, right?
Christina Hendricks: Her eyes extended to resemble a cat eye, her makeup was perfectly placed. So why is she is on worst? The extreme black against her pale skin looked too severe. But we do agree that her lashes look divine, and this is in no small part thanks to Talika (the actress is a huge fan).
Jenna Fischer: Like an unmade bed, Jenna just looked wrong. Her face was bare, wearing basically no makeup at all. That look is fine for everyday, but these are the awards! Her hair was pulled back into a lower knot.
Do you agree with our picks? Who did we miss that we should have included? DISH!
