Want full brows like Lily Collins?
Bushier brows have become a beauty must-have as of late, embraced by celebrities such as Angelina Jolie and Demi Moore. Since then, there has been an influx of enquiries that have been ignited by the current celebrity trend for a fuller brow, and many women have to resort to transplant surgery in order to achieve the look.
A recent New York Times report highlights a novel way for doctors to replace thinning eyebrows: transplanting nape of the neck or leg hair. The article highlighted Associate Instructor of Dermatology at The Medical School of the University of California, Dr. Sanusi Umar’s, uGraft procedure that is taking the industry of hair restoration to the next level! Bushy eyebrows are one of the new trends in beauty that has already been seen successful on the 2012 Autumn/Winter runways. On the catwalks and magazine covers, the eyebrows were very thick and very marked — giving more emphasis and depth to the look.
Originally developed to help burn victims, the procedure is now growing in popularity amongst women looking to regain fuller brows, after years of tweezing leaving them with thin, over-plucked arches. Hair transplant surgery is the only way to restore eyebrows permanently, and it’s also the solution for those who naturally have very fair or sparse brows .
Eyebrow thickness might come in and out of style (think Brooke Shields’ desirable eighties brows versus pencil-thin nineties supermodels), but, no matter what the brow trend of the moment may be, fuller eyebrows signal youth. Period.
Dr. Umar’s uGraft procedure synthesizes the Single Follicle Extraction and Transfer (S.F.E.T.) technique and the Body Hair Transplantation (B.H.T.) technique to create the newest revolution in hair transplant surgery. A study of the procedure was published in the May 2011 issue of Annals of Plastic Surgery.
As a pioneer in hair transplant surgery, Dr. Umar is highly published in his field — appearing in respected journals such as the Journal of Dermatology and General Medicine — and gives presentations at national and international conferences. Dr. Umar’s website is www.dermhairclinic.com.
