If you’re all about the festivity, jingle bells and glitter, then you may just want to pause, snap your camera and click your picture for BeautyStat’s first Holiday 2011 Makeup Competition sponsored by NYC New York Color Cosmetics.
We’ve held other makeup competitions before, and had a terrific response. So, a big thanks to you, dear readers, for never disappointing us when it comes to your beauty tips and tricks.
Now, it’s all about the holiday season, with BeautyStat’s first ever Holiday 2011 Makeup competition. Are you ready? Here’s what the competition is about:
Makeup for Face: We want an overall holiday face look (this includes eye shadows, lipsticks, lip gloss and foundation). Please use a holiday palette to create your looks. It does not have to be from 2011, although of course currency is always welcome.
Be sure to send us a SHORT PARAGRAPH using the products you used to create your look and please proof and spell check this for accuracy since we will publish this paragraph AS IS. Also include a one line of your inspiration –how did you get inspired? Any catalog or advertisement?
NAILS: We will be featuring Holiday Nails for this portion of the contest. Deck your digits in anything that strikes your fancy — the more creative, the better, but solid nail polish application techniques are important too.
We will pick seven finalists from the MAKEUP submissions and six finalists from the NAILS submission, and NYC New York Color Cosmetics will help us decide who should be picked.
Then we’ll open up the finalists for your vote, and ultimately there will be one winner in each category, and that winner will take home $300 worth of NYC New York Color cosmetics. If you know the brand at all, you’ll realize that is a TON of makeup! Here’s a sample of what the winners will receive:
ANNOUNCING THE FINALISTS: Cast your vote by leaving a comment telling us the name of the person you’re voting for (Please vote for only one person for Makeup and one person for Nails.).
MAKEUP:
Vote for Nicole below:
My inspiration comes from women from all walks of life, in awesome makeup. NYC (New York Color) offers such a diverse mix of makeup. I enjoy this line as well as cover girl. I used cover girl Queen collection foundation to start. I then followed that with NYC smokey brown eye compact, making sure to blend all the colors in this compact. I followed that with NYC’s brown brow liner. I used this on both my eye brows and to outline my eyes. I also used lightly “In the navy” brow liner on my top and bottom lids. The blush-able cream stick in berry New Yorker was used on my cheeks. I applied a generous amount of the plum rum lipstick by NYC & last but not least I used the city girls curling mascara for the sexy lashes.

What inspired my look was silver and red lights all around NYC. I used silver glitter, bright red lipstick and some black to complete my smokey look. To achieve this look I used MAC primer, Chanel fondant, Silver glitter, MAC black and gray shadow, for the liquid eyeliner I used Revlon Colorstay black liquid liner, to pencil in my eyebrows I used Wetn’wild brown eyebrow pencil, and for the Lipstick I used Revlon color stay lipstick. I also used little sliver gems on the sides of my eyes and red gems on my lips. I hope you enjoy my look!

Vote for Jolene below:
For my Winter Wonderland Inspired Nail Art look, I Used Essie
“Borrowed and Blue” polish for the base color.
I then used N.Y.C. French White Tip, to paint on snow flakes and
frosted tips for that snowy effect! I then used a White crackle on my
thumb; OPI Katy Perry’s- “Last Friday Night” on the middle digit, and
for my last but not least nail- Essie- Set in Stone. I was inspired
by a Winter Wonderland look because I love all things sparkle, and
what sparkles more then a snowy winter wonderland!!?
Vote for Celestial below:
I used Wet n Wild (Wild Shine) Red Red for the background color surrounding the tree. The tree is Sally Hansen Xtreme wear Going Green, which has a bit of a shimmer. The ornaments are Pure Ice glitter nail polish. I used Kiss maximum speed nail glue to secure the “stars” on top of the tree and toped it all off with Sally Hansen double duty base & top coat. I used some taping techinque to get the trees, making me a template, I also used some free handing to do this look. For my first time pretty proud of it. My inspiration is the theme that we decorated with at work. We did the traditional Christmas colors, put up a tree and made it the focal point of our area, have a “fireplace” up. So I pulled the colors from around me that we decorated with.
